This is what I call a productive day. The kids and Bill went hiking into Banff. Maya and I had the house to ourselves. I think I finally got caught up on everything. Laundry, ironing, bathrooms clean, got the tub caulked (only needed repairs) and Maya's boxes washed out. Oh did I mention I also balanced for the month. Then to top it off, I made my Beer Chicken, Dirty Rice and a feta cheese salad for the hikers when they got home. Sometimes I scare myself.
Enjoyed a nice family dinner (didn't even have to plan it). They said the hike was good, but looks like the son might have a touch of the flu. He was worn out from the hike and although he was a little warm when they left this morning, he was much warmer when they got home. Didn't seem to affect his appetite. Might have to get him in to see Dr. Yee before he retires. The son might have allergies. Hopefully he's not allergic to Maya. It could be just a locker room smell in his bedroom.
Bill went off for his golf game (by himself). The daughter is doing her laundry and the son is bagged out on the couch (although he woke up to eat the leftovers)
He wanted me to watch a scary movie, but I talked him into a game of crib instead.

Day 353 - 12 Days to Go
I'm slowly losing momentum. Just a few hours late (ok, alot Shaunan)
Friday was a busy day for me. House stuff in the morning; (and trying to organize work stuff). Bill and I and the kids went to see a movie. The daughter bought the tickets and the son bought the food. Went to see Dinner with the Shmucks (sp). It was actually quite funny. Your usual boy and girl live together, shmuck meets them, boy and girl break up, boy learns a lesson, shmuck is still a shmuck and boy and girl get back together and shmuck is now their best friend.
We drove in the Batmobile there - with the roof down. It's not very comfortable when you've got the son sitting behind you and you have to have your seat pulled so much forward, your head is almost in the windshield. Bill let the daughter drive home. Bill and I were in the back - again not very comfortable. Despite being a 4 seater, it really is only comfortable as a two seater (unless you're the driver)
After we got home, I ran into work. Thought it would be a quick night, but Chapters had some cards. Spent more time there then I had anticipated. Came out of work to a very dark sky. Someone is the nw was getting bad bad weather.
When I got home, the son was watching TV, the daughter had gone to another movie and Bill was golfing. I love when I'm missed. Had a quick bite to eat (it was almost 7:30) as I forgot I hadn't had dinner, only popcorn.
Early night as the Bill and the kids had a hiking trip planned.
BODY: 10,000 and some
MIND: Tired, just tired.

Day 352 - 13 Days to Go
I love my card job, but I am getting very frustrated with the little telxon machine. Keeps cutting out on me - just when I need it.
Went into work at the Safeways this morning. Thought I had an order in, but it was the fall order already. Talk about fast. Hopefully that won't have to go up for awhile. That would be sooo depressing to see fall and Halloween stuff up already.
Came home and worked on paper work. The son went over to the girlfriend's and the daughter went out with friends. It was a very quiet afternoon for Maya and I.
Was going to make hamburgers for supper, but someone ate the Stampede burgers and didn't let me know. I could have made from scratch, but ran out of time - so the next best thing - sloppy joes.
The daughter took the son to soccer practice and Bill picked him up. I overheard Bill and the daughter talking about soccer and driving for when I'm away in Vegas. I actually sent them an email asking them to cover a couple of things. I started to give them a hard time about two of them needing to cover my one job!!!!!!!!
BODY: 10,000 steps and Maya and I went for a nice walk to visit the cougar.
MIND: Louise Hay "Every thought I think is creating my future."

Day 351 - 14 Days to Go
Ok, this was the actual day I dropped the ball. When I went to bed I thought I better go do the BLOG, but my relaxation button was still pushed and the thought quickly left my brain.
Woke up in the morning and everyone except Alex and the daughter were still asleep. Got packed up, washed up, said our goodbyes and headed out around 9:30ish. We stopped at the Timmy's in Windemere and gas in Radium. I drove all the way to Banff, where we made another pit stop.. The son went in to the school to say hi to the Banff Camp people. Glen came out to say hi, and to confirm that the son was working the next two weeks and wanted to know if I would be able register the first couple of days. Good thing we stopped.
Got home, unpacked (sort of) and back into the swing of things.
The son had the soccer game against the difficult team. The ouiji board was wrong though, they didn't win. The son didn't even play - that was somewhat expected as he had missed the last four practices. He had thought he'd get to play part of the game. But lesson learned.
Stopped at DQ for a pick me upper Blizzard. Bill got home shortly after we did and the rest of the night was pretty quiet.
BODY: Full of mosquito bites
MIND: Coming out of the fog - slowly!!

Day 350 - 15 Days to Go
Ok, I dropped the ball - but really it was for only one day and today was not the day.
The daughter and I left before 7:00 am this morning for Fairmont. Went to spend the day and evening with family friends and pick up the son. The daughter drove to Canmore and I finished off the trek. We arrived at the Sura cabin around 10:30ish. The gang was just getting up and making breakfast. We joined them and then headed to the beach. What beautiful weather. Sandra took the kids and headed to the local golf course. Anthony stayed to wind surf and Aidan and I relaxed and read (Archie comic books - I love it)
Then it was back to the house for visiting and munchies. By then the lake had calmed down a bit and we headed out to the boat. The daughter, son and Stefan got on the tube. By the looks of the smiles on their faces, they were having a blast. The playing didn't last too long as we seen lightening in the horizon and headed back to the dock. Back to the cabin (large gorgeous comfortable home), more munchies, more visiting and more wine!
The house was full of kids, theirs, mine and all the neighbors. Got a chance to visit with an old friend from 27 some years ago.
After the house emptied out (around 12:30ish) everyone headed to bed.
Great night
BODY: More vitamin D than to know what to do with.
MIND: Relaxed all day - great for the mind.

Day 349 - 16 Days to Go
Typical Monday morning, except the weather was beautiful. There was a lot to get done in such a short day. Went to work Chapters this morning. I think I am up to date on paper work for work.
Pretty quiet around the house. The son is still in Fairmont, and the daughter was out with friends.
Got one load of laundry done - wait that is all there was. I can only imagine how much laundry there will be when the son gets home.
Finally got a chance to watch a new television show tonight - Hot in Cleveland. Very funny.
BODY: Tired and sore. I guess I wore flip flops just a little too long over the past weekend.
MIND: Jimmy Buffett "I blew out my flip flop,Stepped on a pop top,Cut my heel, had to cruise on back home. But there's booze in the blender,And soon it will renderThat frozen concoction that helps me hang on."

Day 348 - 17 Days to Go
Sunday is here and I am home and we are back on course.
Woke up this morning (care to take a guess who was up first) and started the camp fire. We had fire wood to use up. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and at 8:30 (when I got up) it was so warm, my pj's didn't stay on very long. All the other ladies followed shortly after. No bear to watch while we ate this morning.
We didn't start packing up until around 10:30-11:00ish. It wasn't a rushed process. We knew there were going to be a few walks back and forth to the car and van. We left the campsite around 11:30. Said bye to all our friends (hmmmm, they must have left earlier!!!)
We stopped in Longview for fuel (for the vehicles and our bodies) Cat chose the local hotel where all the motorcycles were parked. As we walked into the parking lot, we were greeting by some familar voices. Turns out Art and Bonnie, cousins to Robin and I, were just leaving. They had been on a bike trip through Kananaskas and were heading back to Drumheller. We haven't seen them since Uncle Don's funeral. It was quite a surprise.
So we ate lunch, did a little walking, a little shopping and headed back to Calgary. Janice and Robin headed to take Robin home and Cat dropped me off at home.
It's 8:15ish:, the son's still in BC., the daughter is out with friends, Bill is golfing and I'm going to finish unpacking and head to bed early.
BODY: 5,000,000 over the course of 4 days and that's just back and forth to the bathroom; tanned and now clean
MIND: Relax and very much appreciative of what and who I have at home.

Day 347 - 18 Days to Go
Ahh Saturday (you're pulling this off)
Seems I was the first one awake again today - and for the same reason. When Robin woke up, she was excited to know there would be Timmy's coffee ready and waiting. While eating breakfast around the fire, we happened to look up only to happen to see a black bear on the cliff on the other side of the river. How exciting. (and a little nerve racking) So yes Cat, there are bears at Lundbreck Falls.
We spent the morning hanging out in the river on the chairs. There wasn't a cloud in the sky. We had a late breakfast so by the time lunchtime came around, nobody was really hungry. So we made our usual Saturday trek into Blairmore for ice cream. Before we hit the icecream shop, we visited downtown Blairmore. Nothing fancy, but there were a couple of cute specialty shops. I came away with some toe rings from the specialty Drug Store. (only in a small town) Made a pit stop at Timmy's and the Liquor Store before heading for our ice cream. In the last three years, Janice and I have always come to the little corner gas station on the highway between Beilville and Blairmore for our ice cream. So we stopped this time, only to discover that the gas station was open, but the food and ice cream shop was closed. Apparently they are going through renovations and according the the young clerk girl, that famous hamburger place is opening up - you know the one with the Bear. Oh, A&W. So with much disappointment we settled for a drumstick and all from the ice cream fridge.
Once we got back to our campsite, everyone found a chair and we chatted, read and did our own thing. I managed to beat Robin in the only game of crib we played. It was still pretty hot so the other ladies put their chairs in the river. I needed a much needed nap, but the tent was just too hot and I wanted to lay down. So I did the next best thing. I gathered up extra clothes and headed to the falls. I put my shirts on the rock, layed my head down, and didn't hear a thing until much later when the ladies came by. We walked back to camp and got supper ready. Steak, potatoes, greek salad and garlic toast. It was delicious.
Everyone was still full so smores around the camp fire that night were very limited. Again Robin and I were the first ones to turn in. But this time Janice and Cat followed shortly after - the snake in the fire wood spooked them a little.
BODY: A little dirty, but tanned and relaxed
MIND: A little dirty...... I mean "Very rested and full of humor.

Day 346 - 19 Days to Go
Now it's Friday (keep playing along)
I woke up around 6:30 am - not because I wanted to, but because I needed the walk (the long walk to the outhouses) Everything was wet because it rained all night. You could here the pitter patter on the tent, but nothing heavy, just consistant. I was going to get the fire started, but the sky told me hold off; the clouds weren't opening up and I was sure there was rain coming. So I did the next best thing, I climbed back into bed and didn't wake up until 9:00 am. Good thing, because it did rain again.
This time I got up and started the fire. Cat got up and went to the van for the camp stove. To me this was luxury; to Cat - fast coffee. The day was pretty quiet and relaxing. The sky was mostly blue with the occasional dark cloud looming by. We thought we'd get rain, but it always seemed to just pass on either side of us. We spent time sitting in the chairs in the river, reading; resting at the falls, and of course, the infamous Ouiji Board. Cat like to ask questions about the future and the unknown. I asked future questions too, but one's that I would have answers to within the next few days. ie: Would Robin and Janice arrive before 9:00 pm (Ouiji was wrong) Would the son win his next soccer game (Ouiji said yes; I'll let you know on Wednesday) Would my car be washed before I got home (Ouiji was right) I guess the Ouiji board is just like gambling - all about chance.
So Robin and Janice arrived just after 8:00 pm Friday night. Cat was taking a short 2 hour nap, or what I usually call "passing out". She woke up when the ladies arrived. We got their gear all set up and sat around the camp fire chit chatting and drinking. It was an early night for Robin and I (some of us didn't sleep for two hours) Janice and Cat stayed up later - so late, neither Robin or I heard them come into the tent. In fact, I woke up in the middle of the night, pushed around Janice's airmattress just to make sure they had made it into the tent.
BODY: Well rested and tanned
MIND: In a trance state of relaxation.

Day 345 - 20 Days to Go
It's Thursday night, (use your imagination and go with me on this) and we are finally in Lundbreck Falls. Cat picked me up around 2:00ish is the afternoon and after a quick stop for gas we were on our way. Of the course the longest part of the trip seemed to be just getting out of town. That Deerfoot trail has a way of testing one's patience.
We arrived at the campsight and though slightly disappointed that our favorite spot was taken, we had a pick of most of the tent sights. Unfortunately (and only slightly) Cat's 10 foot tent would only fit into a couple of sights. We wanted to be near the water so the sight we chose, although nice, was the farthest from the parking lot; which meant fartherest from the wood sight; farthest from the water pump; farthest from the washrooms. Now some might think this a good thing, but for four middle age ladies, who were hydrating during the day and boozing during the night, the outhouses were a little far to get too. You didn't stand around wondering when you should walk over, because by then, it might be too late. Having said that, Cat was the brave one, and said as long as it was ten feet away from our site, any tree was fair game.
So Cat got the ten foot tent set up (I was the silent partner) and we got the air beds made up just before the rain came. We hoped back into the van and headed into Blairemore for a bite too eat. Found a cute little bistro and had a fantastic pizza between the two of us. Stopped at Timmy's so Cat could get her triple, triple and we headed back to the campsite. We unloaded everything else and sat around the camp fire. When it was time for bed, Cat couldn't understand why we had to put the coolers back in the van. "Bears" I explained. "In this part of the camp area - it's too populated." Now this is my fourth time in four years at Lundbreck and we used to come here all the time as kids, and although not once I have ever seen a bear here, I was just under the impression it was a camping rule and we followed it.
Nice large tent for two people - lots of moving space.
BODY: Tired
MIND: Relaxed.

Day 344 - 21 Days to Go
De, this is not Facebook, it is a Blog - there is no like button........ But I got the message any how -I like tooo. Might as well start off with the great news.
Clue: #1 I might need some US cash
Clue: #2 I'm going to need some ativan
Clue: #3 I better look for my passport
Clue: #4 If you haven't figured it out yet - "Hey Baby, I'm going to Vegas!" That's just the news part, the great part is, I'm meeting De there. We spent a long time on Facebook this evening trying to organize this trip. The most difficult of course were the flights. Her cheapest flights were in the morning; mine were - well there were none, but there were hardly any flights in the morning. Westjet and Air Canada did not have a great selection - so I took a look at the Calgary Airport to see what airlines flew in and out of there. In addition to Westjet and Air canada, there were another 6 that could get me to Vegas. Turns out US Airways was the best, and I arrive in the morning; And it has a stop in Phoenix. I don't have to get off the plane, but can you guess who is getting on that plane.............................good guess. De, I can't wait. I'm going to jump up and down when I see you and act surprised like this was such a surprise. Please don't walk right past me and pretend you don't know me.
Great news or what. Now Garth Brooks is sold out, and there are no tickets on Stubhub at all. Hopefully there will be some stand by. Maybe I'll need to write to him!!!!
Had a lovely lunch with Shaunan today. I love her advertureness(sp) She took me to this new restaraunt (new to me) It was called ALLOY. All I could think of was alloy wheels. (been with Bill way to long) Anyway the food was delicious; gorgeous; filling yet not over filling. It was one of those meals where you could still order dessert. Thanks Shaunan - next lunch is my treat.
So the rest of the day seems quite boring compared to those two things.
Got up around 7:00 and spent most of the morning trying to figure out the new computer system for work. Then it was time to leave for lunch. By the time I got home, I put the roast on the BBQ and started packing for camping. Catherine and I leave tomorrow; Robin and Janice are going to follow on Friday. Might be blogless for a couple of nights - but you know where I'll be and what I'll be drinking!!!!!!!!! The cooler is full of frozen margarias!!!

Day 343 - 22 Days to Go
Finally a consistent day of nice weather.
Went to work on cards at Chapters this morning. Took a little longer than I had anticipated. Had planned to meet the daughter as physio, but missed out on that. The head office people are coming for a tour tomorrow, so we had to make sure everything was "pretty."
The daughter called and invited me for lunch at Earls. I forgot that her invites mean I still pick up the cheque!!!!!
After lunch I popped over to the other card store to make sure it was "pretty" as well.
Then home when I found the daughter waxing the car. (she is so like her Dad)
Bill said he had a big lunch and was golfing tonight, so leftovers it was. The roast will go on the BBQ tomorrow night.
Almost caught up on laundry. And a bit of ironing and you might be able to see the laundry room floor again.
Had a nice "facebook" chat with Miss De. We might be going to Vegas - and I might get to see Garth Brooks. Positive energy positive energy positive energy. Will keep you posted.
Off to get ready for an early bed.

Day 342 - 23 Days to Go
The day didn't start out too well. I was awake around 3:00 am. Not feeling great. Thought maybe I had eaten too much at dinner and it was only indigestion!!! Opened the new bottle of tums, but didn't help.
By the morning I wasn't feeling as sick, but still not up to eating anything. Well it's 7:30 at night and I'm still feeling a little yucky, so I'm thinking something I ate was bad, or have a case of 24 hour flu. Hopefully gone before the weekend.
Took the son to write his driver's test this morning. Not good news. He did well, but failed to completely stop at a red light while turning red. Automatic fail. Everything else went well. He was annoyed at himself. Guess he'll try again when he gets back from his holiday. After his test, his adopted family picked him up and he headed to BC for a week. The holiday begins for me too.
Cancelled my lunch plans for today. Sorry Shaunan. I actually still could have made it, just didn't think I'd be very hungry. Hope it didn't screw up your day!
Came home and started laundry and got some work on the cards done. Once the daughter left for the gym (hard to sleep when she's around) laid down for rest, but didn't really happen.
Took Maya for a walk; continued with laundry and started supper. Bill came home early to golf, but didn't happen; the weather was beautiful up until supper time.

Day 341 - 24 Days to Go
24 Days, that is it. I will be done 365ish days of Blog. Hmm, need to find a new inspiration!!
Beautiful weather day in Calgary. Dropped the son off at soccer practice then went and picked my Mom up. We stopped in at Sunnyside. Bought a couple of rose bushes to fill in some spaces in the back garden. Tried to find some outside cactus but there were none to be found. I was hoping to plant some underneath our bedroom window. The flower bed there grows nothing, not even weeds, because it faces south and the reflection from the large window just makes it too hot. Weeds won't even grow there.
Then we stopped at Safeways to pick up lunch supplies. By the time we got home the daughter was home from picking up the son from his soccer practice. Bill showed up shortly after that.
Tried getting in a short nap, but between the dog, my mom and Bill deciding to clean the kitchen, it wasn't very prosperous. Guess I'll just hop into bed early tonight.
I got the rose bushes planted after the first rain storm and watered by the second storm. I had also picked up a new indoor plant (must have been on sale) It's called a Lucky Bean plant. Very pretty and unusual. We'll see how long it lasts before I kill it.
Mom and I played some cards this afternoon. I think she enjoy herself for the most part. Then Bill headed out to golf and the kids and I took Mom out for supper to Nick's. Let's just say, by the time we dropped mom off at home, we were both is need of some me time.
The son is all packed and ready for his cabin trip tomorrow. Except, he informs me he has no socks. Despite my better judgement, I threw in a quick load of whites. I guess you could say my holidays start tomorrow as well.

Day 340 - 25 days to Go
Late night for a post. We sat down to watch a family movie (excluding the daughter who was already in bed asleep.) Watched Shutter Island. I think I understand, or I only believe I think I understand. Anyway, dumb ending.
Headed out early to a soccer game this morning. Not a great game at all. The boys didn't look like they had the energy to play at all. Now normally I'd blame that on the heat, but the other team seemed to do just fine. Enough said about the game and the team. Comittment is sure lacking on this team.
Came home and cooled off a bit. Had started draining the hot tub this morning so by late afternoon, the son and I finished it off and gave it a good clean. Filled it back up and it's ready to go (a little cold, but should be good by tomorrow.) Got out some fishing line and worked on my rose bushes. I think I'm off to Sunnyside tomorrow to pick up a couple more and some cactus.
That was the day in a nut shell!!!

Day 339 - 26 Days to Go
Friday is here and the weather is warm. It looked like a storm was going to roll through the city, but it seems to have made a detour around this time.
Dropped the son off at soccer coaching this morning. Then I ran into work on cards. Got quite alot accomplished. Did both stores and then picked up Claire and we had lunch meeting at Earls. Had this terrific salad. I've been trying to convince Claire to come camping with us next weekend!!!!!! I'll keep my fingers crossed.
While we were visiting, I received a phone call on my cell. I went to answer it and I must have had a little bit too much momentum as when I flipped open my phone (it's an old one), the top went flying off. Now the "logical person" in me realized it was broke, but the "optimistical person" in me still tried to talk on a dead two piece phone. So if I missed anyone's call and it seems I hung up on you - Sorry. I probably will be cell phone less for a few days. Good for me, bad for my son. (he's already texted his sister twice to phone me with messages; he texts better than he talks apparently)
Came home after lunch and cleaned up a little. Not sure why there was so much to clean up considering I wasn't home all day. The daughter was just getting up. I think she had already been up and out braiding horses. Honestly didn't hear a thing last night.
So picked the son up from coaching and ran home so he could change. Then it was off to a soccer BBQ in Bowness Park. I offered to help cook the burgers. It was nice to see the coaches relaxing. As we were cleaning up the city of Calgary guys came by and asked if we needed some wood. We explained we were finished and they weren't impressed we had the BBQ in the camp kitchen. (did the same thing last year and they didn't say a thing) so anyway, offerred them some of the leftovers hot dogs and they were quite happy. Then gave away the bag of recycable cans to a little old lady who was walking by cleaning out the garbage cans. I believe my good deeds are done for the day.
Dropped the son and his friend off at at movie and came home to an empty house. Messy and empty, but quiet. Bill was out golfing (surprise) and the daughter was somewhere. She phoned shortly after I got home to inform me that the young man she has been seeing (but not going out with) dumped her. She said she really couldn't be mad, because they weren't going out; but he didn't think "his god" would approve of him dating a non religious person. My only question: he knew her religious views when they met (about two months ago) and she was even reading some of the "literature" he gave her. Why would you want to change someone if you like them the way you met them??? I was impressed that the daughter took it so well. Did I mention she and a girlfriend were heading down to the Stampede tonight and she didn't know what time she would be home. hmmmmm taking it well.
Well just waiting on the phone call from the son to pick him up. Better get my stuff together so I can get to bed early again.

Day 338 - 27 Days to Go
Did I mention I love you Miss De! Next time I make a great meal, you're invited.
Finally got my dumplings made today. Well technically I guess they could be called wumplings. I gave up on making my own skins, so I just picked up the ready made won ton wrappers. But they were delicious. Mom Wee would have been proud. (of course that would have been after she laughed at me and my tapioca/wheat starch concoction.)
That took most of the morning and afternoon. The daughter did a few errands for me, so I was able to finish up the mess and everything.
Worked on an online course for work in the afternoon. Took two hours. Seems pretty straight forward. Actually ran into my boss at the Co-op getting ice cream.
After supper, I headed over for a Caylee fix. If you are ever feeling blue, that is the young lady to visit. She is such a ham; and did I mention smart (maybe a few times in other blogs)
Took over some ice cream for a belated birthday for Alisa. I had wanted a DQ and usually there is one on every corner - but not on Alisa's corner yet. Co-op's strawberry Sundae ice cream was just as delicious.
Headed back home and was able to get the rest of the paper work done up while Bill picked up the son from soccer. I must have really been grouchy last night because everyone has been helping out today.
On an unrelated topic, What is going on with Mel Gibson? Hasn't he figured out that his phone conversations are being taped. You'd think he'd figure that out and stop calling his wife and splurting out stuff. Just wanted to get that off my chest. Everytime I turn on the TV, there is something being said about him. I guess we'll get the real details next year on the Oprah show.

Day 337 - 28 Day to Go
It's a pity party, and everyone is invited. Haven't had one of these in a long time (or at least posted any invites)
Made a fabulous dinner - tried a new recipe - beer chicken. Nobody in this house drinks canned beer anymore - just bottles - so I emptied out a diet coke - poured some beer intot he can and put the chicken on the BBQ. It was a great recipe, and a keeper. So cooked up some baby potatoes and corn on the cob to go with it.
Forgot that the son was going out for dinner for his girlfriend's birthday. Happy Birthday Stephanie. Daughter came home from errands and wanted to know if it was ok if she went over to a friends house. Forgot to check my manual blackberry, but Bill is at a golf tournament. Well, the chicken was good anyways, and Maya even licked up the juice I spilled on the floor. Guess it will be leftovers for tomorrow.
That's it, that's all I got - dishes done; supper cleaned up (it's fast when it's only you) and I think I'll have some jello for dessert. (good thing there isn't any cheesecake in the house)

Day 336 - 29 Days to Go
What a wet day. My understanding is Calgary beat some old record with the amount of rain that fell in one day. Luckily no hail.
The son soccer work moved indoors and after I dropped him off, I headed into work. There is a gentleman that works in the back and inputs orders received - I guess you'd call him a receiver. I've been trying my darndest to get on his good side, but I think he's got a guard up and does not let many people in his circle. I gave up trying today and will just work around him for now.
Came home and napped. I had asked the daughter if she could pick up the son from soccer at 3:00, but she had plans and would be gone by then. So I headed out in the rain (not sure why I forgot a coat and wore "stupid" shoes); stopped for gas and picked up the son. Needless to say he was grouchy when he got out because he had plans to go to the Stampede and the rain and cold was maybe putting a damper on those plans. We arrived home and the daughter was still home; so now I was grouchy. Half hour later there were three grouchy people in the house. Not sure how the other two are feeling, but I know I am still hanging on to the grouchiness.
Tried making Auntie Iris's dumpings. The inside turned out perfect; the outside dough; let's just say if anyone is needing to patch holes in the ceiling, I have the perfect concoction to use. Guess I'll have to cheat tomorrow and buy premade dough. (if that is even possible)
So the son is out; the daughter is out; Bill's in bed and I'm not tired!!! (did I mention the second nap - after the margarita!!!!)
BODY; sore
MIND: even sorer

Day 335 - 30 Days to GO
What a nice start to a Monday morning - the daughter came home around 7:00, with a nice steamed milk for me and ready to help out. Mind you, it didn't take long for her to climb into bed for a nap, when I said I had to take the son to soccer and get groceries first. To her credit she did offer to help with both, but unfortunately I needed to be at soccer to sign kids in, and the grocery bill would have been twice the amount if she had helped. I'll be home in plenty of time to find stuff for us to do!!!!!
Then came into my office this morning to another surprise. The son (that wasn't the surprise because he's always in my office sitting at my desk), but he had a needle and thread and was trying to repair a hole in his soccer stuff. I offered my help and at first he turned me down. After 10 minutes he took me up on the offer and I can see why. He really wasn't getting very far. He threaded his needle; tied the knot in the needle hole and was working with a single thread. I was done in 30 seconds. Lesson learned - do it really bad and your mom will help!
So dropped the son off at soccer; signed in the kids and headed to Superstore. I got a recipe from Auntie Iris for her dumplings so I am going to try and make those tomorrow. Bought all the ingredients.
The son got home early from soccer due to the lovely weather in Calgary. I guess there was hail the size of golf balls.
The son and I headed to Market Mall searching for a birthday gift for the girlfriend. Found the gift, but we both ended buying stuff. Then it was straight to the soccer game. Lost 5 - 0, but the boys played not to bad. They had effort, but the other team was on fire.
Now I'm home and ready for bed.

Day 334 - 31 Days to Go
Did I mention I love my niece Alisa - Belated Happy Birthday Girl. I will try and pop over this week with a little somethin'-somethin'. Thanks for being concerned for me!!!! You're the best.
Started off the morning with - you guess it soccer. Last APEX for the son, except for the party next week.
Came home, son showered and then he headed over to his girlfriends to watch the World Cup. I came home and watched the World Cup from the comfort of my bed. Good thing it was a scoreless game til the end, cause I think I slept through it. Actually my eyes were closed, but my ears were open.
Then I finished the two photo pages I was working on. The 5th anniversary of cino de mayo and the son's Kelowna soccer page. Except for the Lillith Fair, I am up to date on photos.
Got more laundry going, and by darn, I am not going to bed until it is done. (my fingers and toes were crossed)
Actually getting excited about the up coming camping trip. There will be 4 of us (so far)
Congratulations to Miss Carrie Underwood and her recent wedding.
Also heard a rumor that Mr. Brad Paisley might be coming back to Calgary. I told Bill I would take front row seats to him in Calgary to replace my trip to Vegas to see Garth Brooks.!!!
BODY: Nice cup of my Seattle hot tea again tonight
MIND: Author Unknown (but I wish I had wrote this)
I wish I was a glow worm,
A glow worm's never glum.'
Cos how can you be grumpy
When the sun shines out your bum!
Good night

Day 333 - 32 Days to Go
Back into doing stuff mode.
Today was what I like to call a little day. Did a little of this; did a little of that; I was somewhat at a scattered place in my day. Made breakfast for the son and his friend. Bill took the son to soccer. Got some yard work done; got some card work done; got some pictures printed out; got a few groceries bought; did a few dishes; had a little nap. I don't think one think got finished entirely.
Went back outside after supper to do more yard work. Spent most of the time in the rain. It was quite enjoyable until the smell of worms came out. Not my favorite smell. Didn't see any, just smelt them.
Hopefully tomorrow, I can finish everything I start!!!!
BODY: Came in from the rain and enjoyed a nice cup of tea and honey with Bill.
MIND: Dr. Seuss "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

Day 332 - 33 Days to Go
Well it's Friday. Sorry for the delay in the last couple of days. It's funny how that "chemical imbalance" can sneak up on someone. Don't get me wrong, it was by no means as horrendous as it once was, but enough that working on a blog didn't seem appealing at all. Then low and behold I wake up this morning, and the world looks much different. It's amazing what a great sleep, and relaxation can do to the body and soul.
Wednesday and Thursday are pretty much a blur, so I'm not even going to try and recall what I did.
Today the weather has been warm and gorgeous and hot. The Calgary Stampede has officially started. I was supposed to be doing my line dancing, but I didn't even make it to any of the spring sessions. I didn't feel I could keep up with the keeners. I am going to try and make a few of the stampede breakfasts where anyone is welcome to dance.
Dropped the son off at work this morning and headed to work on my cards. I am finally getting the hang of this. Of course I no sooner got on a roll and my Telxon stopped working. Technology and I usually have issues. Came home and worked on some paper work. Then I stopped and picked up some popcicles for the kids at the camps. We finished up there and dropped in on my mom. She needed some cash and a birthday card. Didn't stay long as the son needed to get home and have a shower. He and a friend and the daughter and a friend were headed down to the Stampede. Bill had got tickets to Ranahans for the family to eat and watch the chuckwagons and grandstand show. Bill opted out as he was invited to a tequila tasting. Not just any tequila tasting, but to sample the "$2500.00" bottle that Brucie bought last year. Wonder if expensive tequila tastes any better coming up!!!!
So since Bill opted out and I was feeling energeticless (if that is such a word) I gave up my ticket and the kids were able to both take a friend.
While everyone was out, Janice came for a visit. We haven't seen each other in ages. She looks great and is on the mend from a soccer accident. She got knocked around and had a ruptured lung. Hopefully it heals faster so we are able to make our annual camping trip.
Janice left around 11:00 pm and after the few margaritias, I'm ready for bed as well.
BODY: Lots of vitamin D today!!!!
MIND: What is a Chemical Imbalance?
We’ve heard a lot about “chemical imbalance” as the cause of emotional distress and disturbances. Researchers have spent decades trying to get to the bottom of what causes common disorders such as anxiety, depression and ADHD, and they believe that some form of chemical imbalance is involved in some way. While the exact link between chemical imbalance and emotional disorders has not been found, clinical studies and medical observations have been able to identify a number of chemical inconsistencies that occur in individuals who report experiencing symptoms related to these disorders.
One day it will all disappear.

Day 329 - 36 Days to Go
Boy does it ever throw you off when you've missed days and are trying to catch up.
Tuesday seems like Monday, which feels like Friday, etc etc. But it is a Tuesday - I'm pretty sure.
Played catch up most of the day and yet I'm still behind
The son is working at soccer camps this week so he has to be at work by 10:00.
I came home and tried to catch up on my sleep. No such luck.
Ran to UPS and picked up a card package then came home.
Picked the son up from work, came home made supper and got some paper work done.
Then he had soccer practice. So dropped him off and headed to Chapters to work.
Back home and I'm off to bed.

Day 328 - 37 Days to Go
It's 6:00 am, why is my phone ringing. It's Ashley - she says Dad left a message on the fridge for her to call me as I left a message for her. Not sure what kind of communication is going on at home.
So now we are sort of all awake. Jane and I get ready first and head upstairs for breakfast. The two boys join us afterwards. We load up the car; pay our bill and head for home. First we are going to make a pitstop at the Honda place. They must have to deal with these type of emergencies all the time. I even tell the guy I'm hoping he will be my god send. His answer to the alarm syster - it's after market, not a honda product, can't tough it. Best thing I could do is to haul out the entire system. If it wasn't for the fact he couldn't have it done until 3:00 pm and it was oing to cost 300.00, I might have done it. (Where's a knowledgable car their when you need one) So I guess we're driving all the way home with flahsing lights.
We stop in Vernon to fill up with gas. We borrow some tape from the cashier. When we explain we need it to place a sign in the back regarding broke flashers, she call's one of her employees out. He suggested we just remove the fuse for the hazard lights. This guy is genius and he's nice. We get the book, locate the fuse and volia - it doesn't work. But I'm impressed with this guy; 1, for thinking fo it, and 2 for offering to help a complete stranger. Of course as Jane and I get back intot he car, we wonder if he even worked for the service station or was just a complete stranger himself.
We turn up the music and head for our 6 to 7 hour drive home. The only long pit stop we made was near field, where I absolutely needed to close my eyes for 15 minutes. What a difference a power nap makes.
Drop off Logan at his Mom's van parked at the MCDonalds. Drop of Jane at home just in time for her to go to work and we head home. It was a ery stressfull night trying to explain the car and what was said and done about it.

Day 327 - 38 Days to Go
Well the car started in the morning. The alarm light still flashes, and the actuall flashers come on at the weirdest time, and thanks to Tony, the actual horn doesn't go off (he cut the wires last night)
Went and had breakfast in the hotel complimentary breakfast room. The team was already there. It was funny to see soo many 17 year old boys (and a 28year old coach) eating fruit loops.
So I'm driving the son and Michael and Nigel to the game. It's not as warm as yesterday; in fact even a little overcase and possible showers. I spend much of the pre game time reading my car manual book to see how I can turn the alarm off in my car. The actual remote is still not working so it has been suggested to me I might need new batteries. So after the first game of the day (in which the boys won again) I find rides for the boys so I can pop into a future shop to get new batteries. A really nice lady shows me the batteries and then take the remote into the bak to have someone change them. When I first walk out of Future shop, the remote seems to be working; but by the time I get to the car, it's not working again. Urggg. I head back to the second game. Nobody has a small enough screw driver to open up the remote. I'll have to wait. Which means when I drive, for whatever unknown reason my flashers go off for 30 seconds to a mintues then stop. Then they go off again. I try and rack my brain for a patteren but just not working.
So we're watching the second game(which is actually their fourth and last game) Our team was winning 1 to 0. And then on a offside play, the other team scores. ( not blaming the ref, because he was doing a fairly decent job) So now we're tied. The game ends and it comes to a shoot out (almost feels like a world cup) I had to walk away at this point and only looked when I heard cheering . Finally I see the Arsenal team run over and jump on Mason. We won. We beat the number one team. That should mean a gold medal - "mean" being the operative word. Turns out there is a three way tie for first. These 3 teams all lost one game. So now it goes to goals against (in world cup soccer, it's goals for) The Arsenal comes away with a silver, but can say they actually beat the gold medal winners. Now's that for weird.
So we head back to the hotel with our new passenger - Logan again. He's decided to stay the extra night with us instead of driving back with his family (which doesn't have room for him anyways.)
We head out eat; go to the hotel; the boys shower and we're back to the soccer fields. Cousin Jane has one more game and then she too is coming with us home the next day. They lose their game 1 to 0. In fact they have lost three game, but they come away with a silver as well. Hmmmm somehing wrong with this system.
While heading back to the hotel, we make a pit stop off at Terry and Marks. Mark is a genious when it comes to fixing stuff. He takes a good look, tries a couple of things; get the actual remote working again (we think) but no luck with fixing the flahers going off and on and off and on and so on.
Jane wants to buy everyone food so we stop at Wendy's and the kids grab food . (My appetite is getting lost as I worry about what to do while driving the hightway with these lights flashing periodicly.
Not sure what time the kids finally fall asleep, but I here nothing.

Day 326 - 39 Days to Go
Saturday:
Woke up early after a great night's sleep. The team lost their first game by 1 goal and the ref. Both the boys and the ref were not playing their best. The ref was so angry at the team that he wouldn't even shake their hand afterwards, but did shake the winning teams hand. The ref'ng was bad, but the boys weren't keeping their cool either.
Lunch was prepared by some of the parents and the boys ate at the field. There really wasn't alot of time to go back to the hotel and come back to the same area.
There was an incident over lunch. One of the mom's Alison lost her purse and coffee mug. While she was preparring the boys meal, she went and put her purse and mug in the back of her husbands truck and closed the door. After the boys finished eating and things started to get cleaned up, Alison couldn't find her purse. It was no longer in the back of Tony's truck. She was frantic because Tony's wallet was also in her purse. So Tony got on his cell phone and started to cancel all his cards. He only got as far as he debit card because he couldn't get a hold of the bank to cancel his credit card. In the meantime, some of the ladies helping Alison suggested she look in the back of another black truck parked next to Tony. Low and behold, there was Alison's purse and mug. Seems she was in such a hurry, she put her stuff in the wrong truck. Now it's a good thing someone thought of looking in the other truck, becauce that same truck left about 10 minutues later.
They boys won their game in the afternoon and played a much better game and with cooler heads. But the weather was hot and gorgeous and I was reminded how much I love Kelowna.
Met up with a good friend that lives in Kelowna. Terry and I used to work together at Royal Trust. We hadn't seen each other for almost 12 or 13 years. But we keep in touch on Facebook and our yearly Christmas Cards.
Went out in the evening for dinner with some of the soccer parents while some of the boys went to a movie. Had a great time. Then it was time to come home and had an incident with the car alarm. It got set off and wouldn't shut off. Eventually one of the dad's cut the horn off so it wouldn't keep beeping, but then the alarm lights kept flashing and every once in a while the blinkers go off. I was worried the battery was going to be dead in the morning and my car wouldn't start. I only had two coolers, but I got one of the boys to drive the car back to the hotel. I had four boys to choose from (well three as the son didn't have his drivers yet)Sure didn't get much sleep worrying about that.
Some would say I pulled "An Alison."
Again not too late of a night.

Day 325 - 40 days left to go
Ok, apologies because I haven't written in the past three days - why - because I've been in Kelowna for a soccer tournament and ran out of time.
This is going to be a short snopsis of each da.
Left Friday morning around 7:30 am for Kelowna. The son and his friend drove with me. First of all I wasn't supposed to be making the trip, but Bill was pretty busy at work, so I was elected.
Actually seen some wildlife on this trip. Well deer, but we can see them in the back yard eating at my trees. Somehow they seem more appealing when then in the wild eathing weeds!
We passed an accident with a semi. It must have just happened before we came upon it. The dust could be seen from far back. No doubt a sleeping driver or maybe one of those deer crossing the rode.
We arrived in Kelowna around 3:00 pm but our rooms were ready. Something about the hotel being short staffed. We had already dropped Logan off at his hotel so the son and I headed to a nearby park and rested. By the time we got back to our hotel most of the rooms were ready.
I had made plans to have the son hitch a ride with team members or the coach, but turns out a couple of the boys needed a ride from me, so my plans changed before they even started. Spent the evening in my room watching TV and playing my DS game. It was relaxing - especially after such a long slow drive (construction) Not sure what the GPS was thinking. Everytime we came to a small town, it wanted to take me on a tour through it and then back onto the highway. Good thing I was following Shaunan and knew better.

Day 324 - 41 days to go
Came home from working both card stores this morning (around 12:00 noon)to find the following message on the phone answering machine:
"Hi Mom, it's me. I'm just at the club having lunch with Dad, Stephan and Brock. Your probably having a nap. When you wake up, can you download all the pictures from my camera so the memory is empty."
This coming from the son, whom went to stay at a friend's last night; phone me at work this morning to find out if I knew if the lunch with Bill and Brock was still on; and ended up getting picked up by Bill and taken to the club for lunch and was then going to the zoo.
Now the Mom in me would have normally dropped everything I was doing (putting groceries away) to get this tiny favor done. But the PMS, grouchy mom who has had to change her plans and go to Kelowna this weekend, and can't get the laundry caught up - said - "no chance that is happening!" and went about my work.
Well you should have seen the look of surprise on the son's face when he came home and seen I hadn't done the favor and my ranting about why. Enough said on this matter.

No body
No mind today!

Day 323 - 42 Days to Go
It's official. (I think) After 365 days there will be no more blog. I went to bed so tired last night that I totally forgot the write. Truthfully, I remembered after I got to bed and said to heck with it.
The day was busy - trying to make sure everyone has something to do. I made a couple of hours for myself and went and got my nails done and a pedicure. I am going to be flip flopping around Kelowna.
Laundry, laundry laundry - it just keeps coming.
Dropped the son off at soccer and went and had a visit with my mom. She seems tired and much older. And not a happier camper. OR more unhappier than usual. if that makes sense. I even asked her to come to Kelowna with me. (I already knew the answer)
That was the day in a nut shell.
I'll do better tonight
BODY: 8800 steps and a lovely pedicure
MIND: Remember what you have, before it's gone.
Good Night (or good morning - how ever you look at it)
