I cannot believe that July is almost over. A couple of more days and all the fall clothes will be in the stores (or maybe they are already)
Friday we made a drive up to Banff for a memorial service for Auntie Ming. What a great lady she was. She is actually a great Aunt to Bill. The service was beautiful and it was nice to see all of her kids and grandkids. I hope we can continue to have family get togethers. All of the older generation of people of leaving us and it is getting more difficult to keep up some of the Chinese traditions.
Speaking of getting older, I was talking to mom on the phone today. She was trying to describe a person that had visited the manor. There is a new lady in the manor and it turns out her son went to school with Bill and I. I mentioned this to mom and she has been trying to see if the son has visited the new lady. Last weekend, the new lady had a male visitor who had two small children with him. I told mom that was probably not Bill's friend as he was our age. So today when I was talking to mom, she mentioned that the lady had another male visitor and this time it might have been our highschool friend. He was elderly with gray hair! I reminded mom that he would be our age and she said she knew that. We jokingly discussed the difference between old and elderly and Mom said there was no difference. She reminded me that I am getting up there........ So I guess I am now officially elderly! That would explain all of the aches and pains!!!! Boy, talk about feeling like I need a cane or something!
Today I managed to get a start on my spring cleaning..... or maybe early on my fall cleaning. I got started on the much needed inside window washing. There has been one window that has been bothering me for a while. I thought it was dirty on the outside, but after I had the windows washed on the outside, it was still dirty. So it must be dirty on the inside. Turns out there is actually water in between the two window panes. Great one more thing that needs fixing. So the window is third on our list - behind the one garage door, and the router for the computer. Maybe our house is now considered elderly too.!!!!
I'm hoping tomorrow to get out in the yard and pull some of those weeds; finish up the laundry; get the chocolate chip cookies baked (the dough is in the fridge - as least Ashley isn't home to snack on that) and work on my knitting - yup started knitting a few things again.
Better get to bed so I have the energy tomorrow to do all my chores.

Day 10 of July
Ok, the son has been home for over two days, and I learned a few more things.
1) He had his "fortune read" by a monk at a temple -and I guess it was eerily right on track
2) he stubbed his toe at the same said tremble, and it had since become infected
3) he also stepped on some sharp coral and sliced the bottom of his foot open.
4) he was one of the youngest participants (average age was 22)
5) only Patrick and one other person were first year students
6) in this group of volunteers ther were only 3 Canadians and the other two were from edmonton, but they were not in Patrick's group.
7) I have seen a picture of one of the Thailand soap stars and there is a striking resemblance.
8) Patrick has learned and enjoys cooking Thai food. Just had a delicious supper cooked by him.
9) jet lag seems to kick in around the second and third day.
10) it only takes two or three days for the son to completely mess his room up once more.......
Bill and I trekked down to salsa fest today, with miss maya. We once again parked up on crescent heights hill with the bat mobile. Maya loves the wind blowing through her ears. To me the venue seemed much bigger this year, but Bill disagreed with me, so my memory must be mistaken.
It was a beautiful day for a festival. So beautiful, that the streets were wall to wall with people, little people, strollers, bikes, balloons, and the odd policeman. Unfortunately most of the line ups for the salsa testing were extremely long, so Bill and his bag of nachos didn't get to taste everything. We were there by noon ( it started at eleven) but even when we left around two, the crowds were still pretty thick. There were a few bottle necks, but they usually occurred when there was an alcohol serving place. ( go figure). Maya did so well. It proves that she a territorial dog. Only once did she growl, and that was when we were standing still and a teenager bumped into us.(she was loud and giggling) otherwise, there was no barking, growling or anything. When it got crowded, I would pick her up and put her in her carrying pouch. Bill was right about one thing, Maya is a great chick magnet. No wonder he takes her with him to all the festivals.
Anyway, because the son made a delicious meal, I volunteered to clean up his mess, and he made a big one.
Monday is just around the corner, enjoy it.

Day 9 of July
Well he's home. The son arrived back in Calgary around 8;45 pm. I can't believe he arrived with the same amount of luggage that he left with - a small suitcase, a back pack, and a sling bag. It's been three hours since he arrived and this is what I have learned so far about the trip.
1) He wants to go back in a few years.
2) All the young girls that he encountered think he looks just like a soap star in Thailand
3) He is quite the barterer (sp) at the markets
4) Smoking cigars is not like smoking cigarettes (his words not mine)
5) His new favorite drink is the Samsung bucket. Thailand whiskey, coke, red bull - combined in a bucket and straws for everyone.
6) He can count to 1,000 is Thai
7) Wet and dirty clothes in a suitecase for over 24 hours emitts an awful smell
8) Going one month without shaving was not an option - even gave himself a haircut
9) No matter how jet lagged you are, one can always go to an opening night movie of Dark Knight at 3:00 am.
10) One can visit Thailand for an entire month and not miss his cell phone, but as soon as he steps into his home domain, the phone is on and busy as ever.
So yes I got a few details. The soap star story was the funniest. Even when he got to the resort part of his trip, the hotel staff was asking to have their picture taken with him. As soon as he shows me the soap star he's referring to, I'll post the resemblance. So in addition to having his picture taken with all these young girls, there were also a lot of "ladyboys" who wanted their picture taken. (transvestites).
I should have taken a picture when he walked off the plane with his three little bags, his muscle shirt and his fishing pants and flip flops. He really did look like a hippy on the go.
I can't wait until he has distributed all the "yucky" cigars he brought back for his friends. They don't even have the nice cigar smell to them.
I know someone who is going to be doing laundry first thing tomorrow (and it won't be me) Well maybe not first thing, because I'm thinking if he goes to a 3:00 am movie with his friends, he's going to be one tired puppy when he gets home. Good thing I didn't take time off work, because Patrick is going to be asleep anyways.
I did get a chance to look at a few pictures. Over 1600 pictures and I don't think I have made it half way through. Good thing the pictures got saved when the camera didn't. It got wet somehow. Guess he should have bartered for a new one while he was shopping.
The group Patrick was in consisted of three guys and 7 girls I think. So the three guys stayed with one host family - who just happened to be the mayor/leader of the village. Smart thinking on the ISV team for that one. Curfew in the village was 8:00 pm. Maybe we need to look at some of those laws over here!!!!!! Patrick did keep a journal so I'm anxious to hear more of the stories.
The scariest story from his trip was the flight home. I guess at the end of the flight to LA from Bangkok, the plane started shaking from turbulence and all Patrick could think of was LOST, the TV show. Great - hopefully that thought leaves my memory the next time I have to fly to LA, like in September.

Day 8 of July
What a busy day. What better way to end it than a good concert. And it was a good concert - not a great concert, but a good concert. First of all, any artist who has to follow a Garth Brooks concert within in a 1 month period, is going to have a lot to live up to. Having said that, Mr. Diamond, I think did his best.
I thought we actually had tickets in one of the boxes, but it turns out we were just in the president seats section. They were comfy seats, but quite far from the stage. That wasn't a big disappointment as there were two giant screens up, plus Neil had his microphone turned up quite loud; just in the case the audience went wild and we wouldn't be able to hear him - that didn't happen. I did learn a few things at the concert. Neil just turned 71 in January (actually I googled that when I got home) He just got married to Katie (apparently his third wife and a lot younger than him;again from google) I didn't know "I'm a believer was a Neil Diamond song; the more familar version is of course from the Shrek movie. I realize Mr. Diamond is 71, and no doubt his voice is going to be different from years ago, but I was disappointed in how much he talked in his songs. I remember his songs from when I was in elementary school. And just to make sure I wasn't missing something, I went back and listened to his earlier recordings. Yes he talked in some songs, but he sang much more. There were also a couple of times in his concert that I was a little confused about. I didn't know if he was being serious or trying to be funny. There was one song where he got down; first on one knee and then laying down to serenade a lady in the audience. Another time was when he sang Sweet Caroline. We were so excited with he song and of course everyone cheered and stomped at the end. Who knew he would sing the last chorus of the song again; and again; and again. The last time he sang it, people were actually laughing - I don't think it was supposed to be funny. Then he just finished telling us about his new wife and dedicated a song to her. The next song, he did a duet with one of his back-up singers (who had a great voice) and lets just say, the bad actiing added with the pretend make out session seemed wrong.
On a positive note, the dome was packed (I actually felt young). The brass section was awesome and seemed to be having the most fun. The camera never actually left Neil's face, so it was difficult to see the musicians from where we were sitting. And we had great company. Thanks to Tammy and Jamie for inviting us. I'm curious to see the critics reviews tomorrow to see if we were at the same concert.
Got a few more things to get done tonight because the SON is coming home tomorrow. Can't wait to hear all the stories.
Good night Sweet Caroline and Cracklin' Rosie

Day 7 of July
It's official, Stampede 2012 is over. Except for the trek to the grounds to see Garth, I didn't even venture down. I my mind, this now means that summer is 1/2 over. I know it's only he 16th, but once Stampede is over, the city calms down, and somehow the summer days drift away. It's funny, when you are a kid, summer seems to last forever.
Had a relatively quiet weekend. Spent Saturday night babysitting my little ones.
Sunday, Ashley and Ethan ran to Superstore for me to pick up some salmon to take to Robin's. I couldn't believe my eyes; when they got home, Ethan actually put the groceries away. I was impressed on one hand, but concerned on the other - he must spend so much time at our place, he actually knows where everything goes!!!!!
Ashley, Ethan and myself headed over to Robin's for a family get together. Did I mention how big Miss Caylee is getting. My gosh before long, she is going to be starting school. She had a good evening considering all the attention was on her. She is definetly going to be a leader, not a follower; and Alisa as frustrating as that is at this age, it will benefit her when she's in school.
Came home and did some paper work to get ready for my stores in the morning. Then Monday morning came; I realized I'm in need of more rest so will start my stores tomorrow. That's why I love this card job. Very flexible.
So one child left this morning; (working at a BC horse show) and the other child will be home Thursday. I can't believe it has already been a month since the son left. I am so excited to hear about his adventure and to see how he looks. He wasn't going to shave the entire time he was gone, so it should be interesting.
Anyway, treadmill is done, laundry is started, I'm sure it's time for a much needed shower.

Day 6 of July
wow, WOW and WOW! One of the most charismatic entertainers on this planet. Garth Brooks concert was last night. Now don't get me wrong, the Las Vegas Garth concert was amazing, and it cannot be duplicated, but to see and hear Mr. Brooks sing his own songs and how amazing his voice and showmanship is, just gives me goosebumps. Like he says, each of his songs is like one of his babies and you know he cherishes them. How can you not love a guy, who gives up his career to be there for his kids (being that he financially can); still refers to his wife as Miss Yearwood and says Thank you to everyone all the time; from the audience, to his band, to the side guy who keeps handing him his guitars. I am still smiling (even with my eyes closed and nodding off)
So yes we hit the Stampede grounds yesterday. Technically I only really wandered around the BMO center to see of the "wares" and then into the Corral to see all the art work and crafts. My only venture onto the grounds was after Bill arrived and he wanted his usual Stampede corn dog. I have never seen the appeal of the "dog" like that, but after watching the guy holding about 10 uncooked and uncoated dogs in his bare hands (no gloves) and then dipping them, I'm pretty sure I will go to my grave having never tasted one. It's not even on my bucket list. Although I did think of another think I should have on my bucket list. "Thank god, for Unanswered Prayers" (Garth song) I would like to see a concert (preferrably one I want to see) from the front row. I swear I cannot figure out how people get front row seats. And I want to feel sorry for people who paid anywhere over 800.00 for their tickets last night. Because for $1000.00 you could fly to Vegas, stay at a cheap hotel and see Garth at the Wynn Hotel.
Other than the corn dog maker, the only other distasteful part of the Garth experiece was the C-train ride to the grounds. I do not miss the daily commute. Ethan gave me a ride to the Crowfoot station. I paid my $2.75 for a ticket and found a seat on the last car. Between the heat on the train (or lack of air conditioning); the loud voices of gossiping girls; and finally the crammed cars by the time we were leaving downtown, I was tempted to pop a couple of ativan to calm me down. I now remember why people try and sleep (or pretend to be sleeping) on the C-Train. When the train is packed and you are sitting on a side seat, where are you supposed to look. Straight ahead at the urban cowboy, who thinks tight jeans are sexy???? I'll admit, I am spoiled for being able to work at a job that doesn't require me to be downtown or travel during rush hour. I guess I am just "Much too Young to feel This Damn Old" (garth song)
An update on the son. He sent another Email that he was still safe, but was taking some money out of his bank account. Again he didn't use our code word, so hopefully it wasn't some thief stealing his identity. I can't believe that he'll be home next Thursday. What is the rule about how long I have to let him chill out before I bombard him with all my questions? Oh what the heck, I'll end up breaking those rules anyway.
And before he gets home, Ashley is leaving for B.C. to groom for a horseshow. I think she's gone for at least two weeks. Maybe we just need to get a revolving door put in.
Well I better get my act together and get ready for work. I just feel "Shameless" (garth song)
Enjoy your Fridy the 13th

Day 5 of July
I've got friends in low places........no this wasn't a dig at my BFF's. It means we are going to Garth Brooks. Short version of a long story. Bill came home last week from work and we were sitting around the dinner table; Bill, myself, Ashley and Ethan (Patrick's substitute) I think the daughter was talking about getting grandstand tickets and Bill made a comment that he turned down Garth Brooks tickets. I looked at him and told him to stop teasing, and of course he made that face that tells us he was teasing. I told him I knew he was teasing because there is no way he would have turned down Garth Brooks tickets when he knows what a big fan I am. I had told him when the tickets first went on sale, that I wouldn't pay for tickets to this show because we had just seen him in Vegas. And I didn't want him to call in any favors for tickets, again, because we had just seen him in Vegas. But if he were offered tickets, I would love to go and see Garth again. So yesterday, after work, guess who comes home with Garth Brooks tickets? And it looks like we have great seats. I am a very spoiled lady. I guess I will be going down to the grounds this year. Remind me to get my black cowboy boots back from Ashley.
While I was camping last weekend, I had received an email from Patrick. It basically went something like this: Still safe, and having the time of my life! He didn't sign it with our code name, so I'm hoping it was him (hahaha)
Also I mentioned that I sent a note to the owner/company of Lundbreck Falls to mention my dismay about not being able to put up tents in the regular camping area. Well yesterday I received a reply from the company:
hello. thank you for your email in reguards to tenting at lundbreck falls. you are correct, you can have a tent on any site as long as it is registered. i will be meeting with our manager to clear this issue up.this person is new and he is mistaken on this regulation
barry
In hind sight I'm wondering if I should have mentioned the inappropriate comments from the caretaker. My concern was that I had paid for the campsite with my cheque, which has my address and the last thing I want to do is tick off a creepy guy who knows where I live!!!!!
It was another beautiful day yesterday. It is hot, hot, hot, but I'm not complaining - I'll take this over the cold, winter days any time. And when I looked out into the back yard this morning, I have roses blooming all over the place, and my peonies are starting to bloom.
Unfortunately I still have the ant problem by our back window. Before I left for camping, I put out corn meal. I think it was my sister in law who mentioned if you put out oatmeal, the ants eat it, the oaatmeal expands in their tummy and they die. Humane - their ants, I'm not feeling too my anguish. Although the oatmeal didn't work, so yesterday when I stopped at Co op I picked up these little ant traps. It says they are supposed to be used inside, but I secured them in amongst those tiny workers. I sat and watched then ants last night, and there were so may and they were moving so fast, all I could think of was the movie Ants or Bug's Life. Really, it was a scene out of the movie.
Anyway the treadmill isn't going to start itself, so I better get a move on.
Enjoy your tuesday.

Day 4 of July
First of all, I apologize if this blog is a duplicate, but I started my blog this morning, then I went to save it and it wouldn't work. Then this afternoon, I go to sign in and it shows me part of the blog, but won't let me access the rest, so maybe I'm the only one who can't see it. I can guarantee, it's not going to be the same, because frankly, I was much more fresh this morning and trying to remember exactly how I wrote about my weekend will be difficult, but here goes a new version.
It's Monday, I'm home, and I'm tired. I think those are all good things this time (except for the Monday part). What a beautiful weekend. We did our 6th annual (although we did miss one year) girls trip to Lundbreck Falls. I cannot express in words how tranquil and relaxing these Falls are. I will post a picture at the end of the blog, because that might have been the reason I got locked out of the blog this morning.
Let's start at the beginning; Friday morning, Janice, JB and myself left Calgary by 10:00. We had all taken Friday off so we could leave early and get a prime spot for our camping weekend. Except for a couple of pit stops (bathroom break in Nanton and a missed turn before Fort MacLeod) our drive was smooth sailing. I blame the missed turn on the good music and great conversation. We arrive at Lundbreck Falls after 12:00ish and much to our surprise we have a good selection of spots. We have two main criteria for picking our spot: 1) it must be near the water with easy access to a shallow area and 2) if possible we would like to be near the washrooms (aka outhouses) but not downwind from the same said washroom. After a bit of looking around, we found the perfect spot and we set up camp. Our site was right next to the spot where my Dad used to set up the trailer when we were younger. It was the last spot, right against the hill. It is now called Skunk Hollow (wonder why).We got the tent set up right away, and just as we were furnishing the site, the caretaker of the campground pulls up and asks us if we are tenting (1st clue was the tent). When we confirmed his suspicions, he told us tents were not allowed anywhere except in the walk-in tent area. This part of the campsite was reserved for "units". Thankfully before we tried to argue our case, he said we could stay because our tent was already set up; but next time..... Yeah right! (I have since written to the owner and voiced our complaint) That put a little bit of negative energy on the moment, but it passed quickly. So we put a few more items in their place and we make a quick drive into Cowley for some steaks. Janice had heard of this butcher shop (meat market didn't sound right) where they had great steak - well they did have great steak, as well as the best beef jerky I've ever tasted (even better than Longview) Once back at camp, we also had to approach our caretakers for wood. I could go into many stories about Irvine or who we liked to call IrVINE, but the blog would be way too long, so I have one word to describe him - pervert!!! We received our wood delivered and our fire was blazing hot. Our supper that night consisted of steak, baked potatoes, caesar salad, fried mushrooms, and garlic bread. I didn't think we would have to eat for the rest of the weekend. At some point during the evening, it was discovered that Janice's air mattress had a leak in it. We looked through all our supplies for a patch kit, but that was one thing we didn't have (that and the kitchen sink) So Janice and JB went over to Skunk Hollow to see if our fellow tenters (they said they never got told the tent rule) had a repair kit. They did and so the girls attended to the tiny pin hole in the air mattress. We now had a working air mattress and two new camping buddies - a father and son team - Pav and Petar (Mom and another brother were over in Norway) Turns out Dad, Pav was there to golf, and son, Petar was an avid fly fisherman. I think we had an early night on Friday, maybe sometime after midnight, but no one is really sure because we didn't bring a watch and the phones (that had no reception anyway) were turned off.
Saturday morning brought us beautiful weather from the get go in the morning. It also brought the realization that there was another hole in the girls air mattress. Janice was up early to get the coffee going. After breakfast and a few duties, we headed to the river with our chairs, our books, our footstool (rubber made container filled with rocks and water), music and of course our beverage of choice. My choice was of course tequila coolers. We invited Pav to join us and had an enjoyable afternoon. After a few hours on the river we straggled back camp and made an executive decision to drive into Blairmore for a late lunch, and possibly a repair kit for the air mattress. I love driving through Frank Slide - it brings back so many fond memories of my childhood camping trips. We had a nice lunch at a small cafe, whose food was surprisingly good (never judge a cafe by it's decor and rude owners). I also made an unexpected purchase of some shoes. Just happen to be walking by a store and seen these shoes I loved - they had my size and were on sale. Then it was off to the liquor store for a bit more booze variety (I was still enjoying my tequila coolers though) I did however by a small bottle (it's all about the bottle) of tequila - the skull stuff - for Bill. We headed back to the campsite. As were were winding down the gravel road, I dropped JB and Janice off at IrVINE's site to get more wood. (I like my campfires) Once it was delivered (that was the cost of the uncomfortable comments)by IrVINE and he had left, it was nap time, at least for me. I snuck into the tent and the girls hiked up the hill overlooking the river to lay in the sun. Saturday evening was spent laughing, visiting with Pa and Son, drinking, throwing giant marshmallows in the fire, roasting hot dogs, and life lessons for Stacey - from hummers to mushrooms. I should have been taking notes because I needed to google a lot of things. It was 2:30 am by the time and put out the fire and followed the ladies into the tent.
I was up early Sunday, and started the fire - not for coffee, but I really needed a face wash to wake me up. We packed up camp after breakfast and headed to the falls for our last bit of sunshine. You can walk down to the falls and there are some big, no gigantic, rocks. We sat/layed on them and the mist spray from the falls cools you right off. It is so perfect..... I can't explain how tranquil I felt. Then it was time to head home. We took the 22 highway home to go through Longview etc. (I've since heard on the news today, that there was a bad accident there in the evening) We stopped for some beef jerky(no where near as good as in Cowley) and our course of travelling bathroom break. Needless to say we were three tired and tanned ladies by the time we all got home.
The weather had also been hot in Calgary and the house was cooking when I got home. Emptied the cooler; made Bill a leftover hot-dog and I headed downstairs to the cool basement for a quick nap. Despite waking up around 7:00 pm, I had no problem falling asleep around ten at bed time.
Here is a couple of pictures from the falls.

The first photo is how close we were to the Falls and the second photo is JB, Janice and myself!
I better get some more camping stuff put away, and try and figure out why I have been humming Garth Brooks all day.

Day 3 of July
Belated Happy 4th of July to all my friends south of the border!!!
One more sleep until Janice and I hit the camping trail.. Checklist tent-x, alcohol-x, sleeping bag-x, alcohol-x, newspaper - dang I should have hid all the paper before Bill put in out for recycling(might have to sneak out Thursday and Fridays before he gets a chance to read it) I think we are ready. But I do have to stop at a liqour store and see if I can find my tequila coolers. If I can find them, all other beverages can stay at home. It's not a good idea to head out camping when I'm so tired, because after the weekend, I'm going to need a few days to get caught back up on my sleep. Will fill you in on the details sometime next week.
And just in time, my new sunglasses came in the mail yesterday. I can't remember if I mentioned that I ordered a pair of regular glasses on the Clearly Contact website. Every once in a while they have this promotion where you can get a one time free pair (per household) So I figured out all the measurements and ordered my free pair (for $24.99) Still, that's an excellent price for glasses. They arrived and I've been wearing them and they feel great. So then I order the sunglasses, which is what I needed. I use my same measurments and find a pair that look great on my face shape on the computer. I ordered them on Thursday, June 28th, and they arrived first thing Tuesday morning, July 4th. They are great. So for a total of $150.00ish I got two pair of glasses. Plus, as an addedd bonus (I love freebies) they sent a pair of regular sunglasses (what I like to call my hot tub glasses) with case and cleaner and screwdriver set. I must say I am pretty impressed.
On a side note, I stopped in at Mom's yesterday. The last two times I talked to her on the phone, she sounded pretty down that nobody had come to visit. I took her to Safeways and then we headed to Ricki's for dinner. I guess perking her up takes priority over catching up on my sleep (and house cleaning - but thats a given)
Haven't heard from the son again. According to my records, he should be finished volunteering and have started his touring.
Well time to hop in the shower and get this day started.

Dqy 2 of July
Can you spell T-I-R-E-D......What a busy weekend. Holiday Monday didn't turn out the way I planned at all. When I woke up in the morning I had great intentions of making some Rice Rolls like my sister in law had made the day before. I had soaked my rice the night before and as soon as I got up, I put the rice in my Magic Bullet. I got about 8 cups of mixture. I added the other ingredients and put it ont he counter for later. We went for dim sum (my first time in the bat mobile this summer) to celebrate both Ben and Karen's birthdays. (different days, but close enough) After a quick pit stop, we headed home. I was so tired, I thought I would catch some zzzzz's and then wake up and make my rice rolls. But first I checked the emails because I was supposed to go to a birthday party for the three kids I play with. There was an email, but it was not clear, and it seemed like I might actually be working. Now the little devil and angel were on my shoulders debating on what to do... "Quick go lay down and pretend you didn't se the email!" "no, no, no, you said you wanted to go to the party, you can sort out your roll when you get there." Well you can probably guess who won the debate (I need a name for that angel). So headed over to the birthday party - seems I will be working from 2:00 until 7:00. And I did. The weather was beautiful and the kids were able to play outside in the pool and sprinkler, fort and sandbox. The afternoon did go really fast. By the time I got home around 7:30 I was beat. I took one look at my rice mixture on the counter and decided to put in the fridge and make the rolls on Tuesday.
Tuesday morning came way to early thanks to Maya and her incredible senses. The window was open and she must have smelled or heard the deer in the yard. I got up to take a look and it was Bambi. Now normally I don't like having the deer in my yard, but this was bambi and she looked a little scared (she must have thought Maya was much bigger.) So I closed the window and the curtains so Maya couldn't scare her. I didn't want her trying to jump over the fence, because I didn't think she would make it, and I've seen smaller ones catch their belly fur on there before. Well I was awake now. Headed into work on my cards and then my little ones. By the time I got home around 4:00, my rice mixture had a thin layer on ice on top (fridge too cold maybe) So do I take a chance and use it, only to have my rice rolls not turn out........where are those two angel and devil's now? Well I ended up pouring the entire thing down the drain, with lots and lots of hot water. I was smart enough to figure out not to start a new batch until next week. Why wait so long you ask? Because this weekend is our 6th annual camping weekend. And when I say we, I mean Janice and I. I will fill you in on the details when we get back..... I just hope we don't see any bears this year!!!!!
Well, my work is all done (if you don't count house work) and i'm ready to head to bed. It's been a week since I heard from my son, so maybe tomorrow will be the day.

Day 1 of July
Day 1 of July and it just happens to be July 1st!!! Happy Canada Day to everyone. I was going to say, how sad it is that we need a day created in order for us to remember how lucky we are to live in a great country. But then I realized that's exacly what we do with people birthdays. The birthdays remind us to celebrate people that are special to us. What a world it could be if we could remember to do all the celebrating every day - who would have time to fight!!!!!!!
Even though it is Sunday, it feels like a Saturday - where did I lose my Saturday. I had great intentions yesterday. I did go into work for 4 hours in the morning. In the afternoon, I headed over to my sister-in-laws, Anne. She was making one of her chinese recipes that Mom used to make. Between the two of us (her working and me supervisig) by the last 8 rice rolls, everything was turning out right. i just might have to try those at home. Then she and I and Brian and Jane headed to the hospital to visit Auntie Iris. We just found out she had been admitted. She is another one of those great ladies. So strong and to see her so tired and thin was a little sad. But, she got out of her bed, and took us to the visitors room to visit. After about 30 minutes, the nurse arrived to take some of her vitals, so she scooted us out of the hospital. Sending lots of love and positive energy out to Auntie Iris.
Then the four of us met up with the Yips and headed for a bite to eat. I wasn't too hungry so I just had a bubble tea and some salad rolls. Just the right amount to hit the spot. By the time I got home, it was around 9;30 pm - too late to work in the garden and too late to clean the car (so I told myself) And I guess that's where Saturday went.
It's hard to believe it was a week ago that Bill and I went to see Dave Coulier. (Uncle Joey from Full House) It was a great show. We got seats right up front, and I wasn't too concerned, because I had heard that Dave's show was pretty tame. I didn't think we'd have to worry about being heckled. Oops, I forgot there was an M.C./opening act. Her name was Laurie, and I was a little afraid when she walked up to the stage, because I recognized her from my trip to Fairmont with Janice for our ladies weekend. Yup, it was the same lady and I slowly slid down in my chair hoping she wouldn't notice us. But to no avail. She asked if we were a couple; yes I said; how long you been married she asked?; hmmm I know it's more than 25 so I told her 28; (oops only 27) She then asked what does Bill have that has kept me around so long----------now I could have got the show going - knowing this ladies mind - but I didn't - I tried to keep it clean, but really, it didn't matter what I said, she was going to have her way with us - and she did. Moving on. Dave followed Laurie and the rest of the night was calm and pleasant. I did feel a little sorry for Dave, because he was only maybe 3 or 4 feet from us and I think I stared at him all night. I just couldn't believe Uncle Joey was standing in front of us. He did make a comment in the middle of the show about farts or something and I said (I thought under my breath) that is such a guy thing to say. He must have heard me, because he started laughing, and said quietly intot he microphone - I told you poop talk is always funny. At one point during his show he was talking about feeling at a low point, and someone yelled out "Alanis Morrisette (sp). He had a great comeback - "You are like a wing man, aren't you. You've been wating all night in the wings to yell that out." In case people didn't know, Dave and Alanis went out a long time ago. Bill didn't know, so I had to explain the significance to him in the car.
Anyway, it was a great show and despite the calmer side to it, Bill had tears in his eyes from laughing - Dave can do some amazing voices, and I think Bullwinkle must have been Bill's favorite.
So Bill just headed to the golf course, I've been out in the yard most of the day, maybe it's time for a nice soak in the tub.
