Day 4 of March

Spring - I think so! Snow - yes but why? I know I'm confused, I can only imagine how the animals and trees must be feeling. I will admit though, I did see a rabbit a couple of days ago, and it was still entirely white.
Got a busy, busy week ahead. I have one more day left at the preschool- I know it is for the best (my health and sanity at least), but I am sure going to miss those kids and the two aides that work in the classroom. I'm working 5 days a week with my little guy, plus still doing my cards. And believe it or not, it is still less hours than when I was at the preschool.

Spent the weekend getting my paper work in order (for no particular reason people) As I was coasting in my paper work, I got distracted on Facebook (and not with games) I was reading some comments and I couldn't believe some of the comments on the comments. I understand there is still racisim around, but that someone would actually post such a comment. To think that in this day and age the three R's (being Racisim, religion and rude) are the rudiments to many of the worlds problems. K, just thought that up. I will now step down from my soap box; take a deep breath; and worry about my own beliefs.... over it....Not... but will be.

Visited mom on Sunday. She hadn't been feeling well, but it looks like it might have just been something she ate (and it wasn't the two dead bananas that were sitting in her window sill for the 6 weeks she was in Carewest)

Saturday night, Bill and I went to watch Ashley in a cheerleading demostration at the U of C. I was certainly impressed and also came away with a better understanding of how she gets so many bruises and the odd black eye! Quite a dangerous sport.

Better get the rest of my desk cleared off - long day tomorrow.

Day 3 of March

Belated Happy St. Patrick's Day and belated birthday wishes to my Maya. Six years old yesterday. It doesn't seem that long, and yet it seems like we've had her forever!!!!! That makes her 42 in dog years. That would explain the attitude! (Her's not mine!)

It's been a busy past week. Friday night was the Lady Antebellum concert. We had amazing seats; it was amazing music but the actual entertainment was from the group of 4 young cowboys in a couple of rows in front of us. They were thoroughly enjoying the music, the beer and the eye candy. Let me tell you, they are going to break a lot of hearts. The girls would take one look at those black cowboy hats; see them move to the music, and they literally came to them like flys to flypaper. We spent most of the night up in one of the boxes socializing with a service company, but did get back to our seats in time for the main concert. (although I missed Darius Rucker, and I know more of his songs and Lady A.)

This past Wednesday we went to the Car and Truck show gala. Again a great evening. It was a fund raiser and I did my best to get Bill to bid on a couple of live auction items. I even tried to lose him so I could bid on them. Somehow he knew what I was up to and dragged me over the the Ferrari section. (I think we have room in the basement for a jukebox)

Mom is now back home at the manor. She is physically fit and able to readjust, but I am concerned about her memory and hearing. I was over to visit her a couple times on the weekend, and she's in good spirits and enjoying the attention staff and residents are giving her. They took very good care of her at Carewest and I'm wondering if that isn't the type of place she may need. She was very happy there.

Only two weeks (three classes) left at the preschool. I am going to miss 21 little ones. They brought a smile to my face every day!

Better get mom's paperwork caught up so I won't be freaking out during the week.

Day 2 of March

For the record, I am sticking with my prediction that spring is around the corner. Yes, despite the snowfall we've received in the last few days. If nothing else, all of this snow has made me ponder a very important question. "Why in the world do we keep building a house with a south back yard. All of the neighbours have clean drive ways - not because they were out there shovelling, but because the sun (despite the cold temperature) melted all their snow away. If we ever move again (and I'll fight that), south in the front!!!!!!!
I watched an interesting "news" show today. Does Anderson Cooper still count as news, even during his afternoon talk show? Anyway the show was about putting information on the interent and some of the outcomes. There were a couple of people who were fired so comments they made. Now, when I listened to these people, I couldn't belive they were naive about what information could be obtained out there. It was of their opinion that stuff they put on was meant for certain people to see only. Really!! So I decided to do a little investigating myself. I tried goggling my name. Now I've done this before, looked at the first 3 or 4 entries and realized I'm not "top news". But today I decided to go a few pages into my name - say 29. My first surprise was how many Stacey Wee's are actually out there; there is one in Hawaii (wish it was me) and one in the U.K. (must like soccer). Most of the time may name came up - Stacey and then next to it would be a wee someone or something or other.... but I plugged away and I actually discovered myself in a few places. Facebook was a popular one for both me and the other Stacey Wee's of the world.Of course I was listed under the preschool; and my previous employer PREP; and then there was a comment I made at the Reggaefest website (thankfully it was a good one); and there was one on a note I sent to Anderson Cooper (he asked about tattoos and what they meant to you) I also entered a contest on Country 105 - showing a mysterious picture of some feet that we took on a camping trip to Lundbreck Falls. One surprising entry I found in the "Cochrane Eagel." It was from a MC horseshow many years ago, and I was the show secretary at the time. There was nothing specific, just mentioned my name. I almost felt famous for that one. And another entry I found was the obituary notice for my father-in-law and I as his daughter-in-law. And of course there was the odd entry from my blog. When I started my blog, I knew the information would be out there. Thankfully I think I've kept that "thought" with me. But I must admit there have been times where I have wanted to use it as a "whipping post." As one of the ladies mentioned on today's show - do not put anything up there that you wouldn't let your children read or your bosses. Hmmm. Maybe I need to adjust maybe one entry!!!!!!!
So next time I go and google my name, I'm sure this specific blog will come up - who knows, maybe the other Stacey Wee's out there will see their names (I have said Stacey Wee enough times yet)
Off to enjoy my book.

Day 1 of March

Is it Tuesday yet? Oops a little late, but to be honest, I have been a little busy. Why you might ask? Well I have a new job. Now before your jaw drops and you ask, "How many jobs does this lady need?", keep in mind I am trading in one job for another. Last week, I was approached by a former colleague about working privately with a "just under 2 year old". It is a dream job. Wait a minute, all of my jobs started off as dream jobs; and I can honestly say, all but one are still dream jobs. So after a lot (not really) of soul searching, I decided to hand in my resignation letter to the preschool (the no longer dream job) It was the best thing I could do for me. The sad part is I am going to miss about 34 odd little people who bring a smile to my face every Tuesday and Thursday morning. So according to my contract I have to give a months notice - so my last day is March 28th at the preschool. I am letting parents know discretely about my leaving. Back to the story, so Tuesday morning I hand in my resignation and Tuesday afternoon I am working one on one with my new "child." And already he and his two siblings have my heart. We are still working out my hours and it's great to be able to be so flexible (being part time and all.) On another note, I finished work with the soccer people as well. February 29th was the last class (for the season). I tried to hand in my key to the equipment, but Glenn told me to hang on to it, because he'll be calling. I am so lucky to be able to get paid to do jobs that I love so much. Now if I could just figure out how to get my foot in the door of the hospitals and cuddle babbies, I'd never come out of my "fog."
I spent most of today visiting different stores and trying to find a few items to work with J. (the new little boy) I was disappointed that Scholars Choice had no finger puppets. I guess Walmart will be on my list tomorrow. I did meet Robin for coffee and a quick Costco run. She went for a roast; I went (cause I have the card) She came out with her roast and a new outfit; I came out with an apple pie, sheppards pie and shrimp cocktail; Remember this is costco, and nothing is small there.
time to get working on some cards for my "loves" at the preschool.
Stacey.
PS De- would appreciate a comment to see if the news was worth the wait!!!!!!!

Day 5 of February

It's Sunday and I'm looking forward to Monday so I can relax. What a busy weekend. Friday I won a contest on the radio and I received $50.00 gas card and tickets to see the "Stampeders." Now if you're not from Calgary, and or Alberta, and or Canada - you might be wondering what the heck 'THEY" are. And if your not older than 50, you might be thinking "why would someone go and see a football team? Well the Stampeders are a Calgary band from back in "my" day of Junior High/High School. And what a band there were. Go to you tube and "Sweet City Woman" and that might bring back some memories. So the band was playing at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino. We had excellent seats - third row from the front. Considering how old these three guys are now, and how out of shape two of them are, they did a fantastic job - amazing guitar playing or as the drunk behind us said "they make those guitars dance!" I was able to contain myself in my chair for the first half of the show but when they got to Sweet City Woman, I was on the floor (thankfully we were next to the aisle and I wasn't blocking anyone) and feeling the music. At the end of the show, the line up for meeting and getting autographs was right in front of my chair - so I decided to be a great younger sister. I stood in line for a guitar pick for my sister. I asked Ronnie if he would sell me a guitar pick and he just gave me one from his pocket. Nothing fancy, but it can be added to Robin's collection (which I started for her) It was after 1:00 a.m. when we got home - thanks to the lovely road conditions and our "non-spring like weather" that I predicted - NOT.
Sunday, we headed to the Home and Garden Show (again with tickets I won on the radio) It was crowded-- Did I mention it was crowded? It was a blessing and a curse going with Bill - the curse being - he talked me out of buying everything - the blessing - he talked me out of buying everything. Bill had a good point, if you came away with one good point from the show, it was worth it (being free tickets and all) I learned that you can use parchment paper for cooking as well as baking. You just wet your paper and line any pan with it. You can also buy parchment bags for cooking - and then they are compostable. (Anything that helps my cooking is a bonus)
So later afternoon, we stopped at Peter's Drive-in for a late/early lunch supper. I love their vanilla milk shakes.
Have received text - messages from the kids and they are both alive - that's all I need to know (for now).
I hope to do a blog on Tuesday evening with some exciting news. Stay tuned!!!

Day 5 of February

Happy Family Day!
Hmm. and where is my family - let's see: Ashley is in Palm Springs. I've seen pictures on the "barn" website, and it looks warm and beautiful and Ashley was just hanging out in shorts and a tank top. Patrick, just arrived back in Victoria from a 5 day trip to Florida with the Sura's. I haven't had any details from him yet, as he and his friends were heading out for dinner and then he was finishing studying for a midterm tomorrow. Guess I'll get the low down sometime this week. Bill is sitting in the family room watching "G.I.Joe movie!" All I keep hearing is "this is a stupid movie", but he doesn't seem to be turning it off. I pop in there every now and then to see how much time is left in the movie. Maya is sitting on Bill's lap, and doing what she does best; relaxing. I decided to start another project - I'm not sure which one I'm going to give up for now; I'm back to my card making. I've decided this year, I'm giving cards as gifts; blank notes, thank you's etc. They're not the greatest, but if you consider the joy, enthusiasm and love I put into them, they don't seem too bad. I'm not sure why I make cards the same way I make friend rice, there is a mess everywhere - even when I do my best to keep everything contained.
Sunday was a nice relaxing day as well. I suggested to Bill we go watch the "monthly cheap" movie at Crowfoot, and without thinking he said, yes (sorry Shaunan, but I was pretty sure after church you would be bagged from working the night before.) So $10.00 for the movie (for 2), $5.69 for the popcorn (saved 10% with my scene card, and of course snuck my own water in) and watching "To Kill A Mockingbird" with my husband - Well $15.69 - you do the math. You thought I was going to say "priceless" didn't you. Thank goodness cellphone devices have to be turned off during the movie, otherwise who knows how long he would have been on his. Although I can't really complain too much; just as we were sitting down in our seats, my phone went off - so trying to manouver my seat, and the popcorn to grab my phone (which was on loud) probably gave some people more entertainment then they anticipated. Turns out it was Robin. When I told her where I was, she asked why my phone wasn't turned off!!!!! Really!!!
Had a nice phone call from Mom on Sunday as well. I haven't been over since Thursday. She sounded a little bored. I think the novelty is wearing off and she's running out of things to do. I'll try and dig up more pictures for her to look at. She does have access to a computer, and we tried looking at pictures the other day, but it is terribly slow and both our paitence tends to run out.
This week is a short week, but a busy one. This will be our first complete empty nester week... Hmmm I wonder how many "stupid" movies we'll end up watching.
Have a great week everyone.

Day 4 of February

Lots to talk about.
Let's start with Valentines Day. My niece Tracey turned 45 on Valentine's Day. I know, I was a very young Auntie. Also, it has been 29 years since Dad passed away - again on Valentines Day. I remember the day very well. Anyway, yesterday on the radio Up 97.7 had a contest for people who neede a boost on their Valentine's Day. I called Tracey and told her to phone in and explain about it being her birthday, and losing her "papa" on her birthday. Low and behold, she won the Lady Antebella tickets that she has been trying to win for ages. I guess Bill and I will see her and Henry at the concert. Boy that was an easy birthday gift to give.
I have three words for you - September, Vancouver, Madonna.
Ashley, Patrick and I bought Bill tickets to see Madonna. This started out as a Father's Day gift, then cinco de Mayo, and then Anniversary and then when Ashley and I realized we could never keep it a secret for that long, it turned into a Valentine's gift.
I had my first accupuncture session yesterday. I have a pinched nerve in either my elbow or shoulder and it has made my pinky and ring finger numb. For the past week it was getting worse and I couldn't even move my pinky. After my first session, I am moving my finger again - still a little numb. Go for my second session today. Will book a couple of physio appointments to move the tendons and nerve around so they won't be compressed. Of course this is all self diagnosis - (I love the internet) I guess if all else fails, I'll visit the medical people - but hope surgery is the very last option.
I guess my last piece of news is this morning. Was laying in bed, (after getting up for the third time - once when Bill leaves and once when Ashley leaves) and heard a contest on Country 105 - it's been more than 30 days since I last won. Bill and I will be going to the Home and Garden show in a couple of weeks. All this because I knew that "loose lips, sink ships!" (part of the contest)
Oh wait there is more. Yesterday I was in need of a caffine fix. So I was at the soccer dome and went to buy a coke. I had oodles of change, but the "tempermental" machine would not accept my coins. It did accept bills and credit cards - really for a 2 dollar pop. So I put in a five dollar bill - got my pop, but not my three dollars change. I was so tired of being ripped off of those machines, that I took down all the information. This morning I called the number and the really nice lady at coke apologized and although she can't send me $3.00 in cash, she is sending me $3.00 coupon for my loss. I am so not getting ripped off from those machines any more.
I think this day is off to a great start.
Better get on the positive energy band wagon while it's still in full charge.
Have a great day.
