Day 88 - 277 Days to Go

Finally, I don't have to keep the secret anymore. This blog is a day late, but with a very good reason. I am in Dallas and have been since 6:30 pm Friday Nov 6. Surprise De. Early Happy Birthday. If this wasn't on my list of things I wanted to do, it should have been and has since been added. I am very lucky to have been able to fly to Dallas and surprise my good friend De for her 40th birthday. Granted she won't be 40 until December, but early is even a better surprise. So let me do a little recap. Arrived in Dallas Friday night; Todd and the girls picked me up at the airport. Went to bed early. So we got up Saturday morning early, and waited for another friend of De's to arrive. Todd and the girls drove up and Elizabeth and myself followed. We headed out to the lake house where De and six girlfriends were having a scrapbooking weekend. When we arrived they had just got back from a long walk. Elizabeth got out first and De was really surprised. Then I come out of the car, with a Halloween mask on. It took De all of 2 minutes to figure out it was me. I am so getting into shape after this weekend. What a way to be recognized. After some introductions, lunch and clean up, we headed down to the lake. Poor Andrea had a little stumble into the ditch, but thankfully she wasn't seriously hurt. It was one of those awkward moments where it seemed funny at first, but not knowing the extent of her injuries made you stop and wonder..... By the end of the evening, it had become humorous. The weather was so warm - how warm you ask - well I believe I got a little sunburn sitting on the dock (of the bay)! Made a quick trip into town to the local fair (played with some puppies, one of which was a chihuahua, enjoyed some gospel music and took in the smells of some great cooking. It was an early night (for some of us). Fajitas, mojitos, and sparkle crafts were the highlight of the evening.

BODY: Sitting on the dock and soaking up the sun was relaxing, and made for some down time.

MIND: Laughing......best thing for the mind. With this group of ladies, there was something keeping us going all the time (and not just the ladies who put stamps on the wrong part of the envelope.)

Although this is a day later than it should be, it was previously recorded manually and just needed to be added when a computer was available.

Day 87 - 278 days to Go

Short Blog tonight. Really tired, somewhat hungry and I didn't get alot accomplished around the house. Promise to give more details tomorrow.

BODY: Not sure if not eaten counts as a good thing or bad thing for the body. But I haven't been hungry so i'd say that was a good thing.

MIND:
Anticipation -"But if we learn to think of it as anticipation, as learning, as growing, if we think of the time we spend waiting for the big things of life as an opportunity instead of a passing of time, what wonderful horizons open out! "

good night

Day 86 - 279 Days to Go

What a busy day! Trying to get organized for this floor reno. Made a nice pot roast for supper. I love how the meat comes out soo tender after cooking for 5 1/2 hours. Hmmmm. Too bad I didn't get to enjoy the rest of it. After 3:30, I was in zoom mode. Left the house at 4:00 to pick up my niece from the C-Train station. Made a detour to her house first to pick up her soccer bag. Thank you to her sister for having it on the front porch for me. Had a couple of extra minutes to fill up with gas first. Dropped my niece off at soccer, and dropped off the bottles and a quick car wash with some of my bottle money. Ran home, picked up the son, took him to a soccer practise in Varsity. Left to go back to the soccer dome to pick up my niece. Ran her home to change and took her to work. I had hoped to squeeze in a manicure before I had to pick up the son, but the place close by was already closed! So I cleaned out my purse, made a few phone calls, and relaxed while I waited for soccer practice to end.

BODY: Didn't wear my pedometer today, but I'm pretty sure I got close to 10,000 steps if not over. I did give myself a pedicure when I got home. Feels nice and now time to put on my new comfy slippers.

MIND: Despite my hectic schedule today (I think I accomplish more when I'm under pressure) I managed to keep a level head and positive attend. How was I rewarded? When I went to fill up with gas, someone had left their gas coupon - I'm $1.47 richer than I was when I left the house! Positive energy always wins out.

Good night, and until tomorrow.

Day 85 - 280 days to Go

Got a lot of running around done today.
Picked up my new Christmas tree. Last year Cdn Tire carried fiber obtic trees. We didn't get one for Christmas because we were going away to Dallas. When we went after Christmas to get one they were all sold out. So I have been checking into the store every few days and low and behold they had them today. Now I'm getting excited about Christmas.
Went to visit my mother-in-law afterwards. She looked good but was very tired. Had a lovely visit but then let her get some sleep. Afterwards, met up with a good friend for coffee. Haven't seen Neila in a couple of years. We used to work together at Royal Trust. I went to her wedding, she was supposed to come to mine in April of 1985, but her daughter decided it would be a good time to make an entrance into the world. She wasn't due until the end of July, so needless to say, she was early and small. So Neila and Roosevelt couldn't make our wedding. But I always know how old Michelle is because her birthday is 5 days before our wedding anniversary. She's going to be 25 next year.

Came home and had a quick nap. It wasn't restful though as I couldn't get warm. I hope I'm not coming down with something.

Anyway soccer in the evening, groceries at Co op and a quick visit with my Mom. Now I am ready for bed.

BODY: Didn't wear my pedometer today (couldn't find it, but it has since turned up)

MIND: Everything happens for a reason - and I am a firm believer in that. But boy, when it has to do with your own child, it's not as easy as it sounds. Just wants you to be able to make everything better.

Day 84 - 281 Days to Go

Just for the record, I did not forget to write my blog last night. The son had a case of major homework, so I didn't kick him off the computer like I normally do.

Tuesday was a major "get stuff done" day. Unfortunately I was all over the map. From laundry, to recycling kids posters, to moving photo albums and I finally ended up on the kitchen counter, cleaning the top of the cupboard shelves. Don't ask me how I got from point A to point T. Boy was it gross. It's right above the stove. The dust itself would have been just fine, but mix in all that oil residue. Well my 409 cleaner will need a refill soon.
Dropped the son off early to soccer so I could make my line dance class in time. Learned a new dance "The Little Red Book." The is class number 7 and the dances are starting to get a little more complicated. But fun class. Hurried out of there at 7:00 to get back to soccer to pick up the son. The traffic gods were on my side and made it with 10 mintues to spare.
The son is not a happy camper. He living through a life lesson and it's hard to explain to him. He has become quite the achiever (at many things, not just soccer) and he gets frustrated when people don't have the same goals. It breaks my heart to just stand by and not be able to fix things for him. I guess this is also a lesson for me, "mom's aren't super human." He's lucky to have a lot of people in his corner.

Went to bed, didn't sleep great, may got back to bed before I start my day!!!

Day 83 - 282 Days to Go

Didn't get my nap today - and I survived.
I was on a roll all day. Got laundry started (finishing will have to be tomorrow), finished the last of the VHS dubbing tapes. Transferred more "stuff" out of my office, made supper for Bill, got the christmas cards for my mom done....... and that was all before 4:00
Had a great time working with the MVP little tykes. They are soo cute. I think the orange group is finally starting to figure out the process! There were a couple of kids who wouldn't let go of my hand today!!!!
The son had a soccer game after APEX so it was a long hang out at the soccer dome. My friend SE, finally made it to a game and it was nice to see her again! Also ran into a mom whose son used to play on the same team. It was great seeing her again. She is a great lady.

For someone who got alot accomplished today, my blog is pretty short. I'm ready for bed (lack of nap and all)

BODY: Over 12,000 steps (mostly from running with kids at soccer)

MIND: It is very easy to keep a smile on my face these days! Sorry Shaunen, but that's the way it is.....

Day 82 - 283 Days To Go

It was a much calmer day in the universe of Stacey! I got alot accomplished today. I was pretty proud of myself yesterday for helping Bill change the tires on my car to the snow tires. Today I spent alot of the day hauling things out of my office. Seeing how we are getting floors done soon, we need to put away as much furniture as humanly possible. Good thing I just cleaned out the furnace room not long ago, because that is where a lot of the stuff is going for a bit.
Also finished transferring VHS tapes to DVD's. I probably would have gotten a lot more done if I hadn't stopped to watch now and then. My goodness Ashley and Patrick were cuties.
Bill and I spent some tire raking leaves. Normally this isn't a problem in our yard, but for some reason, all the leaves in the Hamptons decided to rest in our yard. We got 4 bags to take to the compost.
Tonight we picked up the son at Stefan's and then picked up Nana and took her out for supper for an early birthday dinner. Little does she know what's in store for her on Friday!!!!! (many of us don't know)

Well, I think I going to try and get to bed a little early tonight - maybe do some reading!!!!

BODY: Despite the amount of stuff I got done, my pedometer is just over 8000 steps. If it recorded all the bending I did today, I would have 20,000 I'm sure.

MIND: The fresh air, and visit with my mom, some reason has brought a calmness over me today!!!! I think I work better under pressure, and having this house ready for the flooring guys is a big pressure.
