Well that weekend went fast. Two day weekend - two day course. Although, I must admit, this is the best First Aid Course I have ever taken, and I have taken 5 or 6. The first time I took a course was when the daughter was one and we had moved to Lloydminster. You take in a lot of information, but I remember learning that it wasn't a good idea cleaning out an eye with a kleenex. (or don't clean your glasses with kleenex) Why? Because kleenex is a paper product, paper products are made with wood, and if you put it in your eye, well......enough said.
But the class this past weekend was very informative. I think it mostly had to do with the instructor. At know time was the class ever boring or dry. It got a little long winded sometimes, but that was from one particular girl (young lady) who although she was there to get her certificate, knew it all. For example, I didn't know the medical difference between a heart attack and an angina!!! Now I do - I mean what physically happens. I relearned my ABC's, and other basics. And during my mock scenario, I learned that if someone is walking around dazed and confused and their sleeve is covering their hand - look and see if they are missing a hand. We each had to do scenario's and are group had 4 people in Sobey's with different ailments. Thank goodness I didn't get the 15 year old boy(who was supposed to be a girl) giving birth. But I did miss the missing hand (no pun intended) Did I mention some of the students were acting as observers and were getting in the way. Boy it sure makes you think fast on your feet. All in all, a great course and lots retained (when in doubt call 911)
Came home early (thank you Mustang - really that's his name - because he signed the certificate that way). Put a pizza in the oven and after supper Bill took the son to soccer practice. Then we sat down to watch the Super Bowl Game. Not sure who I wanted to win. I like the New Orleans team because of the "struggle" that city has had, but the colts team had the nicer of the uniforms (superficial, I know). Didn't really matter, because I missed most of the game - sleeping, and missed Bill picking up the son. Had our Sunday family meeting and got the week all organized, along with my meals for the week. It worked last week, so will try it again.
Hopefully Bill will be finished his movie in time for the son and I to watch at least one episode of LOST!!!
BODY: Took my own lunch again today and avoided any junk food. Tuna, banana, apple, and walnuts. Did I mention there was a DQ right next door to our class - didn't tempt me once.
MIND: I'm quitting soccer!!!! Let me clarify. I'm still manager and will be till the end of in-door-season. I don't mind that actual work of the manager. Unless absolutely necessary, (and if the son needs me, )I have no intention of attending any more indoor anything!!!!!) This was of course not the result of one single incident, but there was the straw that broke the camel's back, and it affected the son. I felt bad for him. If you have issues with me, talk to me. If you have issues with the son, talk to the son. But any issues between the son and myself are just that, our issues. And listening to a private conversation constitutes heresay!!!!! So I feel better just getting it off my chest!!!
No quotes or jokes tonight. Just peace and relaxation!!!!

Day 179 - 186 Days to Go
Day 1 of the First Aid class done. There were supposed to be 21 in the class. Apparently 8 people dropped out Friday, so we were down to 13. What a spread in age levels. I was the oldest for the first hour of the class, then Gloria showed up (she thought the class started at 10:00) The youngest is 15. He's trying to get a job at the Village Leisure Center so needs the course. Three of the young ones are teachers (2 females and one male) Three work in a day care setting and the remaining four are wanting to open their own day home. Hope that adds up to 13 - 2+1+3+3+4 = yup 13. The instructor is quite nice. He has the neatest name "Mustang." If that doesn't make you smile all day. He assures us it is his realy first name, but I haven't seen any I.D. yet. He looks like a bigger (tall and wide) version of Garth Brooks. Very knowledgable and he keeps the class from being dry. The class went from 9:00 until 3:30 (except for Gloria who, well, you remember) The actual class was supposed to go til 5:00 so it was a nice surprise when he let us go early.
Came home and was pretty sure I needed a nap. Well, I didn't think I actually got any sleep. Maya kept wanting to play for the first 10 minutes. Then Bill came in and needed my soccer card. I finally heard Bill and the son leave for the soccer game. I was a little frustrated that I didn't get any zzzz's. Here is was 5:15 and they had already had supper and cleaned up!!! I guess I did manage to nap a bit.
I can't believe I got the night off from soccer. Hopefully tomorrow will be pretty much the same.
The son went over to Stefan's till tomorrow, so I'm finishing up my office and climbing into bed early (earlier) Guess there won't be any Lost viewing tonight. I really should learn how to work the tv and dvd system. Maybe next weekend.
Joke: A woman in Arkansas brought her baby in to see the doctor, and he determined right away the baby had an ear ache.
He wrote a prescription for ear drops. In the directions he wrote, "Put two drops in right ear every four hours" and he abbreviated "right" as an R with a circle around it.
Several days passed, and the woman returned with her baby, complaining that the baby still had an earache, and his little behind was getting really greasy with all those drops of oil.
The doctor looked at the bottle of ear drops and sure enough, the pharmacist had typed the following instructions on the label: "Put two drops in R ear every four hours."
BODY: I was so good today at my course. There was this wonderful bakery next door. People were coming back with cookies, pies, cakes, turtle squares, and I stuck to my homemade lunch!!!!!! (it was sooo tempting)
MIND: “Heart failure is often associated with ventricular fibrillation (a condition where the heart beats irregularly). CPR buys a victim some time, but an AED jump-starts the heart and greatly increases the chance of survival.”
~ Mike Schwartz quotes
I actually learned this today. The AED actually stops the heart so it can restart and get back to a regualr beat!!!!! If you haven't taken a CPR course lately, now would be a good time for a refresher.
Goodnight

Day 178 - 187 Days to Go
I feel like I have worked the entire week - oh wait I have!!!! Ok, if you call what I do working. What a nice end to a crazy busy week. After work this afternoon, I came home and made supper. Dropped the son off at soccer and went and had coffee with Robin. Well actually I had supper and read the paper while I waited for her to join me. Seems she got a little way laid in the SW. Anyway had a really nice visit.
There is still a soccer drama going on, but I've chosen to stay out of it and I unless it involves me, I don't want to hear about it!!!!!
When the son got home from soccer, we watched two more episodes of LOST. Poor Claire. I really want to know what happened to her and the baby. Should I google it or wait..hmmmmm. Mr. Sawyer was only on a couple of times.
Now I need to get to bed as I have a first aide course all day tomorrow.
BODY: Before Lost started I had 7300 steps. So I stood and did my steps while Lost was on until I hit the 10,000 mark. Also did a bit of arm work this morning with my tension rope.
MIND: Louise Hay "Everything I touch is a success." Maybe I should go touch some lotto tickets. I guess you could say even those would be a success - for someone!!!!
Good Night

Day 177 - 188 Days to Go
What a fun day of working today. Started off at the pre-school. The kids were a little rambunctious, but so much fun. We decorated our valentine boxes. I actually thought they would be more enthusiastic, but they were anxious to finish them and head off to play with their friends. I'm sure it will seem more exciting when the students get to fill their boxes.
Headed off to Balzac after work. We finished making valentines and then played a couple of games. One of the games was Trouble - now if you're old enough you'll remember the commercial "trouble trouble, wait don't run, this kind of trouble is lots of fun. Pop o matic, pop a dice, pop a six and you move twice. Race your men around the track and try to send the other back!!! That's pop-o-matic Trouble. Well I lost!!!! to a 13 and 6 year old.
Dropped the boy (as opposed to the son) off at the soccer dome for keeper training. And finally headed home. My work day was done. Now it was time to be a mom again......that would mean.....soccer. Drove the son to practice. Got a little bit of paper work done, but mostly chit chatted with Mr. Ellis. Actually debated would be more the word. Not sure whether we agreed on anything tonight. It makes for great conversation!!!!!
Came home and now I'm ready for bed!!!!
Joke: The goalkeeper threw a party after his team won the league championship. As a special honour, he asked the manager to say grace before they sat down to dinner.
Finishing up the short prayer, the manager said, "... and we thank you, Lord, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the goalie host.
BODY: 10,000 steps today
MIND: Louise Hay "My feet dance through life." Line dance that is!!!!

Day 176 - 189 Days to Go
Wednesday - Hump Day Did you ever wonder where that expression came from: Of course when trying to google it, you can see there is a variety of interpretations of this saying. But I think the following is probably the closes!!!
An American English idiom for Wednesday is "hump day" a reference to making it through to the middle of the work week as getting "over the hump."
Source(s):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hump_day
The morning started off slow, but I did start to build up some energy. Unfortunately by the time I did, it was time to head off to Balzac. I did make a short stop first at Michaels. Picked up some craft supplies. We spent the afternoon making Valentines. Boy do I miss having small kids to help make valentines for. That pretty much covered the afternoon. Then brought the kids to the soccer dome as the girls had practices. By the time I took them home, it was 7:00 pm. Long afternoon, but alot of fun.
Inputted some paper work and now I'm ready for bed.
BODY: Didn't wear the pedometer today. The best thing I did for my body today, was a nice hot, long, shower. Maybe I would have been more awake had I made it cold one!!!!
MIND: Louise Hay: "I love stretching my mind, thinking of the highest good imaginable." YES I DO!!!!

Day 175 - 190 Days to Go
Talk about a busy day and an early start.
The son had physio at 7:30 this morning so we were out the door by 7:00. Wendy is a great lady. We took her a gift - a Sled Head toque for the olympics. That's where she'll be working - on the sled hill.
Then I dropped the son off at school and headed to work. The kids were very clingy today. Grabbed a quick bite to eat in the car and headed out to Balzac to visit with the kids I was keeping an eye on.
By the time I picked the son up at the soccer dome and got home it was 8:00 pm. Needless to say I did not make it to line dance again. I'm really going to have some practising to do this week.
BODY: 8000 steps today.
MIND: Loiuse Hay "Love is contagious. When I share love, it comes back to me multiplied." And no where is that more apparent then when you're working with little kids.!!

Day 174 - 191 Days to Go
What a day! It was filled with every possible emotion. Like a rollercoaster ride. It started with much purposeness(sp). By the time 12:00, lunch time rolled around I had made oriental beer for supper; turkey pot pie for tomorrow's supper; calzones (from scratch)for Wednesday's supper, and all my mess and dishes cleaned up. Also got all the beds changed and laundry almost finished except for whites.
Then it was time to pick up the son and head to the soccer dome. I helped out with the 3 and 4 year olds and when I was done, I left the son there for APEX and headed home to get the beds remade.
That was when my night turned histerical!!!! I received a call from my girlfriend. She had just received a call from the RCMP in Regina. Seems her ex was applying for a job and they wanted to confirm some information. Boy did they call the wrong person (or right, depending which side of the fence you are on). Check out this website: http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/08_64/s0804068931982.htm?chan=magazine+channel_bwsmallbiz+--+departments
Ok, now I have know this person since grade 10. That is going on 30 years now. The RCMP ask about the information in this article. First paragraph is pretty accurate. Second paragraph, might be true....Third paragraph, first I heard of that. Fourth paragraph - news to me and the ex. The last two paragraphs are probably true. Then you go on to read the three comments from friends of the "ex". Boy, I must have been living in a bubble. Actually I've come to the conclusion somebody may have actually done all this stuff, and stole the picture of the person I went to school with!!!! Or I have another theory, but I'm not one to pick on anyone's mental stability. Been there, done that.!!! So after getting over a sore stomach from laughing, I was off to watch the son play a soccer game. Big mistake!!!!!
Did I mention I was also the manager! Again big mistake. Although I did ask the son for his permission when I was approaced to be manager. He agreed and was not under duress at the time. Apparently being a manager has a different meaning when it's your own mother. There was some disagreement in the locker room, and I felt two of the players needed to be heard. Apparently the son disagreed on my involvement! He was pretty adamant about me not being involved. I tried to explain what I thought I my role was. A manager I felt that these boys should be allowed to express and say whatever needed to be said. I was on neither side, and openly told the coach that I disagreed with some of what he said. That's how it was left. The coach agreed we could agree to disagree, but in the end, he is the coach and has the last say. I didn't want the son to agree with me, but at least agree to disagree. He's still angry with me. I feel bad, but worse that he's trying to dictate my roll. urrrghhh. I guess that convinces me that I am absolutely resigning as manager for outdoor season. ..........
So from elated, to happy (being with the little kids) to outrageously funny, to confused and torn!!!!! If that doesn't leave you feeling like you have at an amusement park all day, I'm not sure what would!!!!!
BODY: 13,000 steps today. Most of that was from home believe it or not!!!!!
MIND: Louise Hay "New doors are opening all the time. Life is good!" I love open doors!!!!!!
Good night and hello tomorrow!
