Day 179 - 186 Days to Go

Day 1 of the First Aid class done. There were supposed to be 21 in the class. Apparently 8 people dropped out Friday, so we were down to 13. What a spread in age levels. I was the oldest for the first hour of the class, then Gloria showed up (she thought the class started at 10:00) The youngest is 15. He's trying to get a job at the Village Leisure Center so needs the course. Three of the young ones are teachers (2 females and one male) Three work in a day care setting and the remaining four are wanting to open their own day home. Hope that adds up to 13 - 2+1+3+3+4 = yup 13. The instructor is quite nice. He has the neatest name "Mustang." If that doesn't make you smile all day. He assures us it is his realy first name, but I haven't seen any I.D. yet. He looks like a bigger (tall and wide) version of Garth Brooks. Very knowledgable and he keeps the class from being dry. The class went from 9:00 until 3:30 (except for Gloria who, well, you remember) The actual class was supposed to go til 5:00 so it was a nice surprise when he let us go early.

Came home and was pretty sure I needed a nap. Well, I didn't think I actually got any sleep. Maya kept wanting to play for the first 10 minutes. Then Bill came in and needed my soccer card. I finally heard Bill and the son leave for the soccer game. I was a little frustrated that I didn't get any zzzz's. Here is was 5:15 and they had already had supper and cleaned up!!! I guess I did manage to nap a bit.

I can't believe I got the night off from soccer. Hopefully tomorrow will be pretty much the same.

The son went over to Stefan's till tomorrow, so I'm finishing up my office and climbing into bed early (earlier) Guess there won't be any Lost viewing tonight. I really should learn how to work the tv and dvd system. Maybe next weekend.

Joke: A woman in Arkansas brought her baby in to see the doctor, and he determined right away the baby had an ear ache.
He wrote a prescription for ear drops. In the directions he wrote, "Put two drops in right ear every four hours" and he abbreviated "right" as an R with a circle around it.
Several days passed, and the woman returned with her baby, complaining that the baby still had an earache, and his little behind was getting really greasy with all those drops of oil.
The doctor looked at the bottle of ear drops and sure enough, the pharmacist had typed the following instructions on the label: "Put two drops in R ear every four hours."

BODY: I was so good today at my course. There was this wonderful bakery next door. People were coming back with cookies, pies, cakes, turtle squares, and I stuck to my homemade lunch!!!!!! (it was sooo tempting)

MIND: “Heart failure is often associated with ventricular fibrillation (a condition where the heart beats irregularly). CPR buys a victim some time, but an AED jump-starts the heart and greatly increases the chance of survival.”
~ Mike Schwartz quotes
I actually learned this today. The AED actually stops the heart so it can restart and get back to a regualr beat!!!!! If you haven't taken a CPR course lately, now would be a good time for a refresher.

Goodnight
Stacey
