Day 6 of June

It's Friday.  -  Already.  Feels like summer vacation to me..
Yesterday I volunteered once again at Spruce Meadows.  I was paired up with another lady who has been volunteering at Spruce Meadows for 15 years.  Her name is June, and she reminded me of a West Jet  flight attendant, as she was all dressed up in blue, a dress shoe with a small heel, the coiffured hair, which set perfectly, and smiling all the time.  I asked her how she got involved volunteering at Spruce Meadows and her explanation was heartwarming to hear.  When she first wanted to volunteer, she considered what Spruce had to offer. Where else in the city does an organization offer family outings, basically for free.  They take pride in their facility and their volunteers. And she's right.  We watched out the window as families with young children roamed around.  And everywhere you look there are volunteers and more volunteers. I think I might sign up for another show, but I'm going to find a position that keeps me a little more busy.  Who knows, I might be one of the people following the horses around with a pail and shovel.
The weather was beautiful as well yesterday, so I was able to drive home with the top down, and the music up.  Hopefully I didn't look to ridiculous with my head bobbin' to the music and singing Bruno Mars like I was one of the back up singers.
Before I went to Spruce Meadows, I went to Safeway's to pick up a few groceries for Mom and headed over to her place.  Thursday is not the best day for her to receive visitors; and she has told us that many times.  It's bath/shower day, get her hair done, and delivery of her oxygen/air.  But I didn't want to skip a week because I think it throws her off and sometimes makes her a little grouchy.  So I got to Mom's place before she went for her shower.  I brought her the "bibs" I made.  I think I mentioned last Wednesday Mom mentioned she wanted something to cover up with so she didn't keep messing up her shirt.  We picked up a $2.00 outdoor table cloth.  I cut it up (following a pattern) and sewed on some Velcro.  Anyway, mom loved them.  I took her three, and told her to try them out and let me know if she liked them and any alterations that should be made.  Fast forward to this morning.  I'm just heading out the door for work at Chapters.  The phone rings and it is mom.  My heart races at first, because normally when Mom calls me, something is wrong.  But no, she wants to tell me that the bibs needs some adjusting; that's fine, I can do that; oh and also she has none left; as she gave them all away to different people.  They seen hers and when they liked it, mom just gave it to them.  Jokingly I say "Mom, you could be making some money here."  Her reply "I couldn't charge people for them, their just bibs."  I guess I'll be busy this weekend, adjusting my pattern and finishing up the rest of the table cloth.  Hopefully she'll hang on to at least one for herself.
Well it's almost 5:00 pm and i really haven't accomplished much around the house.  I better get moving or it is going to be Saturday before I know it.
