The weekend is here. Mind you, everyday seems like a weekend to me now!
Had a coffee date this morning with my friend Rose. I haven't seen Rose since Monday and our infamous "removal" from the family who cannot be named.
I picked Rose up at 8:30, a quick pit stop at Tim Hortons in Northland (and yes it was actually quick) and we headed over to Rose's new acquisition. I love the new house. It's a small bungalow, but as soon as you walk in, you can see where it is going to be a wonderful home. As soon as I walked in the side door, I recognized a smell that I can only describe as "old." Now don't get me wrong, "old" isn't a derogatory term. I'm not sure what other word to use, and I'm sure there is a more flattering one but you could tell it had belonged to an elderly person at one point. It reminded me of my Grandma Fraser's house (maternal grandmother). Grandmas and Grandpa Fraser used to live in the "train station" house in Carmangay. As scary as this big place could be, it also holds wonderful memories of some great adventures.
I took a quick tour of the house with Rose, and I was pulled back in time when I opened the wooden closet doors. The yard is large and is going to provide a wonderful scenery of flowers, trees and I'm sure some creatures with wings and without. Thanks Rose for giving me the tour. I love this place and the neighborhood, I wouldn't change a thing. I can't wait for the first "break in" party. I'll bring the fruit beer!!!!!
Before we knew it, three hours had come and gone. The time just flew by. We caught up on a lot of stuff. I was even reminded of one of my favorite Elton John songs "Benny and the Jets." Rose's husband showed up to do some more reno's and we headed back to our part of town; roof down, Bruno Mars serenading us.
I arrived home to an empty house, except for Maya. Gobbled down some lunch, quick nap/cuddle with Maya on the couch and then I headed out to the garden. I've decided I think I am a weed snob. There are some weeds that annoy me, and other's that, I think put in the correct place, might actually make some bare dirt look nice. Today was not the day to pick and choose which weeds I wanted to keep. They all got pulled.
So I've plugged in my wax machine and I'm going to soak my feet and give myself a pedicure tonight. Why, because I'm worth it.!!!!!!
Happy Saturday.

Day 6 of June
It's Friday. - Already. Feels like summer vacation to me..
Yesterday I volunteered once again at Spruce Meadows. I was paired up with another lady who has been volunteering at Spruce Meadows for 15 years. Her name is June, and she reminded me of a West Jet flight attendant, as she was all dressed up in blue, a dress shoe with a small heel, the coiffured hair, which set perfectly, and smiling all the time. I asked her how she got involved volunteering at Spruce Meadows and her explanation was heartwarming to hear. When she first wanted to volunteer, she considered what Spruce had to offer. Where else in the city does an organization offer family outings, basically for free. They take pride in their facility and their volunteers. And she's right. We watched out the window as families with young children roamed around. And everywhere you look there are volunteers and more volunteers. I think I might sign up for another show, but I'm going to find a position that keeps me a little more busy. Who knows, I might be one of the people following the horses around with a pail and shovel.
The weather was beautiful as well yesterday, so I was able to drive home with the top down, and the music up. Hopefully I didn't look to ridiculous with my head bobbin' to the music and singing Bruno Mars like I was one of the back up singers.
Before I went to Spruce Meadows, I went to Safeway's to pick up a few groceries for Mom and headed over to her place. Thursday is not the best day for her to receive visitors; and she has told us that many times. It's bath/shower day, get her hair done, and delivery of her oxygen/air. But I didn't want to skip a week because I think it throws her off and sometimes makes her a little grouchy. So I got to Mom's place before she went for her shower. I brought her the "bibs" I made. I think I mentioned last Wednesday Mom mentioned she wanted something to cover up with so she didn't keep messing up her shirt. We picked up a $2.00 outdoor table cloth. I cut it up (following a pattern) and sewed on some Velcro. Anyway, mom loved them. I took her three, and told her to try them out and let me know if she liked them and any alterations that should be made. Fast forward to this morning. I'm just heading out the door for work at Chapters. The phone rings and it is mom. My heart races at first, because normally when Mom calls me, something is wrong. But no, she wants to tell me that the bibs needs some adjusting; that's fine, I can do that; oh and also she has none left; as she gave them all away to different people. They seen hers and when they liked it, mom just gave it to them. Jokingly I say "Mom, you could be making some money here." Her reply "I couldn't charge people for them, their just bibs." I guess I'll be busy this weekend, adjusting my pattern and finishing up the rest of the table cloth. Hopefully she'll hang on to at least one for herself.
Well it's almost 5:00 pm and i really haven't accomplished much around the house. I better get moving or it is going to be Saturday before I know it.

Day 5 of June
Spruce Meadows. We are very lucky to live in a city with such a wonderful facility. I started my volunteer job today. It was the first day of the show, so the momentum in the lounge was a little slow. But, I did meet some wonderful people. There was one young man who was working as host/security. He's on 21, but a very mature 21 with a great personality. I must remember to bring a picture of "Penny" and who knows......I think they would make a cute couple.
When you are a member of the general public, and you sit and watch a horse show, you have no idea the number of people "behind the scenes" that make everything run so smooth. It has been a few years since I have walked around Spruce Meadows and they have made a lot of changes. I may have to borrow my nephews and do a field trip here. There is even a playground area for the kids. I am volunteering again tomorrow to help out. Hopefully i won't get caught up in the rush hour traffic like I did today. Although in thinking about it, it really only took me an hour to get home. It could have been longer.
Another great part of my day at Spruce Meadows was seeing Ashley. We didn't get to talk for long as she is one busy lady, but she did pop in a few times to see how I was doing. So proud!
Spent a good part of the evening cleaning out my computer. It doesn't take long for emails and pictures to accumulate. I have enough art work pictures to start my own art gallery. I guess cleaning off my desk should be next on my "tidy up"list.
After Bill finished golfing tonight, I followed him to the Hyundi dealership so he could take the car in to get an oil leak checked. It was after hours so he had to drop it off, fill in the form and drop of the keys. We pull out of the parking lot and Bill starts looking for his phone...... After a quick trip back to the dealership, and a call to Patrick at home, we were relieved to discover it had not been left in the car. ....... And we wonder where Patrick gets his antics from......
Well busy day tomorrow, more volunteering, visit with Mom and hopefully a quick stop in one of the card stores. Sounds like I should be getting ready for bed.
PS
De, I'll send you a detailed email shortly and fill in some work blanks for you..... or you could wait for the book version...might be coming out in paperback. lol

Day 4 of June
It's Tuesday, and yeah - the clouds have all but cleared out and the blue sky is proudly showing off. Today started off as a day of good intentions. (don't all days start off like that)
The house was full last night as was the garage and driveway. The daughter drove her new wheels (all two of them) to work today. She must have been a little excited because she left her crv parked in the driveway behind my driving vehicle today. Poor me, I'm stuck driving my silver bullet for the week. Seems the Hyundi has an oil leak so Patrick is borrowing my crv. Luckily I caught Patrick before he left for work, and I was able to have "Messy" Wee moved before I got stuck. (i know, learn to drive a standard and my problems would be solved...) Why is that my problem?
Made a visit to my Chapters store to work on cards. Took one look at the mess they had made of my cards, and after some deep breathing exercises, I was able to get over the "mess" and get some work done. Met up with my massage therapist/psych therapist and told her my current employment news. She was so thrilled and excited for me. She went on to explain, how well my psychic was going to be from this day forward. There is a reason we surround good people around us.
A short visit with Holly and I skipped over to Safeways for a few groceries - because it is 10% Tuesday. I saved over $26 dollars which will give you an idea on how many groceries I purchased. Ooops, I forgot which vehicle I was driving. There would be no roof coming down on this trip home.
What a nice change to be home before 1:00. I could really get used to this. Got the groceries put away and was thinking about a short nap/sit outside when I cell phone rings. It's the son. I brace myself thinking he has had another cluster headache. But nope, he's broke my car. Let me back up. He calls me and asks if there are baby locks on my car. I say yes and explain how to take the locks off. While I am explaining, he' at the passenger door, in the front. Oh I see he says. Then he closes the door and it won't stay shut. I get the details from his and explain, there are only baby locks on the two back doors. Ohhhhh.... Turns out he doesn't want the actual baby locks for the door, but for the windows. Well that just needs the car turned on, and a button pushed by the steering wheel. Too late, the passenger door will now not close. I am so frustrated I tell him to drive it to Honda and get it fixed, but as soon as I hang up, I change my mind. I phone him and tell him to bring the car home, and we should be able to fix it.. So Patrick attaches a string to the door and tugs on it so the door doesn't go flying open while he is driving. To make this story a little shorter, Patrick and I both figure out how to fix the door (it was much simpler than we both anticipated, but google did help.
I guess this problem should be unavoidable in the future. There will be no reason to put on the door baby locks or the window baby locks, because I won't be driving little ones. I do need to get out and clean my back seat though. There are lots of tiny foot prints on the back seat and the front seats. Its funny how people trust you with their children one day..... and then the next day, those people don't trust you at all, with anything. Morale : is it the trust that's been lost; or has anger and ego overwhelmed the brain."
Off to finish changing beds.

Day 3 of June
I know this may be confusing for some of you; two blogs in one day. But when the thoughts and words are tumbling out of my brain, they need to be put somewhere. Hence the reason I started my blog.
So where one door closes (or hits you in the ass on the way out), another door will open. And this evening my power of positive thought helped to open the new door. I got a call from one of the volunteer co ordinators at Spruce Meadows. They need more volunteers in the lounge, and Ashley happen to mention I had my pro-card (allows me to work with alcohol, not drink it). My first day is going to be Wednesday. I have to go get my I.D. Picture taken, pick up my spruce meadows gear and show up Wednesday morning for my first shift. Do I sound a little too excited? Wouldn't it be cool if I had to serve beer to Bruce Springsteen or Tom Selleck. Both of their daughters usually compete at Spruce Meadows.
I am going to have to do some rearranging this week. Mom visit will have to be moved to Thursday this week.
On a side note, I just wanted to thank all the great friends I have, and the great family I have. And some of you follow under both those categories. There are many definitions for friendship, but real friends don't need to be defined.
And on another side note,,,,less than 3 weeks to Taylor Swift.
K,no more blogs today...got a good book to start on.

Day 2 of June
It's Monday, it's raining, and I got fired! You know the old saying "be careful what you wish for."
Where to start. Well the Monday and raining is starting to seem like a normal thing. The firing, came as a bit of a surprise, but long over due. Unfortunately I think I was fired for the wrong thing, but really, in the end does it really matter. Saturday, I drove to my employee's home (mistake #1 - I should have emailed it) and handed in my resignation notice with a one month time frame. I didn't want to leave the family in a lurch (mistake # 2, I should have made it immediate, it would have saved me a lot of work I did on the Sunday) I also didn't realize when I am off duty (which I not exactly sure is when) I am not allowed to enter the house without prior approval or announcement (which I have done in the past) So that was Saturday. I spent the rest of the weekend taking care of Patrick and his cluster headaches (he's had three more) and myself, who felt like I might be coming down with something - turned out just to be that damn missing period (that's an entire blog topic for another time)
So I got up Monday morning, made my lunch and headed to work. I decided to leave a little early so i could teach the kids a new safety game before music. thankfully I was able to get the game taught, and squeeze in a couple of hugs and kisses from the kids and nannies. I was upset at first, but now I am over it. I want to be angry, but really, I can only control my issues and if I can let go of the control, so other people can have it (cause they need it), then I can feel good about myself. And move on, I have.........says Master Yoda.
Now what to do. I'm not quite ready to put out the job feelers. I've had a few requests over the past couple of months. I think I'll just ponder my options. I will be checking into a few courses, especially my Reiki course and maybe some gardening stuff.
The laundry is calling my name......maybe if I hide it won't find me.
I do want to send out apologizes to my friend Rose..........there is a Patsy Cline song out there that we need to karaoke together.........Crazy,,,,,,
Luv you girlfriend.

Day 1 of June
It's June 1 and it's Saturday morning. I feel like I haven't slept well in a long time. It started with Thursday night. I met with my massage therapist. I offered to do some photo-copying for her and she dropped the stuff off at the house. She arrived at 7:30 pm and the next time we looked at the clock it was just after midnight. I learned a lot and gained a new perspective on choosing my future path in life. Yes it was a deep night, but also filled with laughs.
Luckily I had Friday off from work so I was able to ease into my day at my own pace - and trust me, it was a "turtle" type pace. Then Friday night was my "Bill's Out of Town, So Let's Do A Ladies Karaoke" party. I chose a small gathering of ladies I work with. I find that singing in front of people can be intimating for some "karaoke virgins." This was something I had to observe to learn because frankly, with or without a microphone, I will sing at the mere mention of a song title, lyric, or weird noise. My theory, if people attempting karaoke were supposed to be "good", we'd be auditioning for American Idol. The party started at 7:00. Actually I started partying at 7:00 and shortly after that the ladies showed up. It was a beer and wine night, both of which contributed to many many laughs. The first to show up was one of my new found friends, "Bernadette". She got dropped of by her husband "Howard", and she was the lone wine drinker. Then came "Priya". (and her 24 pack of cold beer) And boy was Priya pissed. Without going into detail, let's just say we solved all the problems of the "University." It wasn't until "Penny" showed up, that we were able to calm Priya down, (or maybe it was the alcohol) After some gained courage, I herded the unsuspecting friends into the "Dome" and we all enthusiastically (ok, only Bernadette and myself showed enthusiasm.) fought for a microphone and one of our favorite songs. Thankfully, Another One Bites the Dust was not one of the listed songs. Needless to say, it turned into another after midnight evening. It was a great get together (and a much needed one) and I'm still smiling as I think about the evening.
Sometimes during the evening, the son returned home from his classes. He was kind enough to grace us with his presence and even belted out (no really, he belted out) a couple of tunes. Patrick headed to bed just before the gathering of great minds ended and I climbed into my bed shortly after that. Around 2:00 a.m. my bedroom light turns on and Patrick is holding his head in agony and flops down on the bed. Patrick has been "diagnosed" with what physicians call "cluster headaches." They started last year and he gets them usually in the spring and in the fall. These only started during his last year of high school and he usually gets them twice a year. Well he had one during the day Saturday and then again at 2:00 a.m. From what I have read, the pain is describable. I tried to help alleviate the pain with a couple of techniques I've learned, but it was hard to get close to him. So, I just held him, talked to him and calmly talked to him. It was a frightening thing to witness. But it did make me more determined to educate myself on what these are, and how to find a way to help him cope with them and eventually rid him of this horrendous pain.
So this morning when I woke up, I rememberd that on my "50" list, I wanted to learn Reiki: Here is what Reiki is:
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
Boy I sure could have used that power last night.
I'll keep you posted on my progress. In the meantime, there are beer cans and wine bottles to clean up - Bill gets home this evening.
