After every calm weekend, must come a crazy Monday (or manic as the song goes)
I only had two must get done jobs for Monday- laundry and supper. Laundry, because I promised the son he wouldn't have to rescue his soccer uniform out of a stinky washing machine any more and supper because Patrick and I won't get home until 7:00 tonight.
Laundry got started and then I moved into the kitchen. Defrosted the chicken; emptied the the dishwasher; reloaded the dishwasher; boiled the chicken; needed two pots (lots of chicken). Since when does spilled boiled water create such smoke; you have probably guessed the next outcome. I also knew the smoke detector was going to go off, so I turned on the fan, and opened up the back door - alas, not in time. So the smoke detector goes off as does Maya. I know the procedure; the alarm company is going to call and find out if it is a false alarm. Now where did I leave Bill's phone. I haven't been able to find the kitchen one all morning. Patrick has it hidden somewhere. Hmmm, keep looking - then the phone rings; I think it just started but it's hard to hear over the damn smoke alarm and Maya. I run downstairs to get the basement phone but it has stopped ringing. So I run back upstairs and the phone rings again - I find Bill's phone and luckily I am able to get to it before they hang up. Yes it's the alarm company; he asks me if I'm cooking (obviously there is a note on file about previous incidents) yes, I'm cooking, my name is Stacey, and he hangs up. In the back of my mind, I'm hoping he heard everything and the fire department won't be showing up - should I get out of my PJ's and comb my hair? Naw, if they show up I'll just let them rescue me.......
Then came Tuesday and the first major snowfall of the winter. And with a new snow fall comes "new drivers" I realize patience is needed by all, but .... I guess I don't have any but's - I just need to be patience. And I am not complaining about the snow because really, we have had a beautiful fall up until now and it's November 16th.
Speaking of November 16th, Happy Birthday to my beautiful niece Susan and a welcome to the world to my new nephew Lyndon Nicholas. Ben called around noon today to tell us the wonderful news. When I asked when he was born, Ben said last night - But it's noon I told him - what took so long to phone - Ben said he had to sleep - I had to bring him up to date on baby ettiquette. Phone, phone, phone..... Can't wait to meet the little one.
Also had a dododododo moment. It was three o'clock and I was driving to pick up Patrick from school. On the radio came a song that I haven't heard on the radio in a very long time - it was one of the songs we used to sing in Carmangay all the time. "Last Kiss!" Seems to me it was a week ago we attended Uncle Len's memorial in Carmangay. Just one of those energy moments. I believe Uncle Len was thinking of me and I of him.
Anyway off to take Patrick to more soccer practices. I think I'll run a few errands.
Night
Stacey
