Day 146 - 219 Days to Go

Finally changed my profile picture. What the heck is she doing you might ask? That was my first tatoo. Well, technically it was just a henna tatoo. Didn't last long at all. But I have a list that I made last spring and it is a list of things I would like to do when I turn 50. But stuff happens and I've started on the list now. I think I talked about the list once before. (or twice, or three times) Anyways on my list is getting a tatoo. Thanksgiving of 2008, I had my mother-in-law write out both of my kids names in chinese. So that is what I am going to get. When, as soon as I lose 20 pounds, which I plan on doing before May. Where, not sure - any suggestions. I was thinking my ankle, cause I'm pretty much done with the fancy dresses. And besides, that is the only part of my body that doesn't seem to get "enlarged" ALthough, when I think about swollen ankles when I'm older..... Maybe not such a good place. There's always the small of my back, but my daughter refers to that as the tramp stamp. Hey, when I bend over, the only thing people are going to see are my granny panties. There is always my shoulders? Ok, I've got a couple of months to check this out. Might have to google it, but I'm going to take what google says with a grain of salt (can't get over the egg incident)
Didn't see the daughter on Facebook today. She has been on for the past three days. They had a really windy day on the weekend, and were unable to get out to the reefs because of the large waves. Obviously they are making up for it now. Sounds like she is having fun, lots of fun.
Today was a somewhat productive day - for the son!!!! No actually, I dropped him off at the soccer dome this morning and ran some errands up in Westhills. Tried to get ahold of Shaunan for coffee, but she was on daughter duty. Maybe next time. Then came home, made supper (early) Then it was time to drop the son off at the soccer dome again. This time I got the bottles dropped off at the bottle depot (by the looks of every one else at the depot, my Christmas/New Years holidays were tame) There was one guy there with three buggies full and three large garbage bags. I was this close to going over and helping him sort so the line would go faster (that's my dream job)
Anyway got home around 7:00, the same time as Bill. That's his story, not mine, but boy was he grouchy. It's amazing what a hug can do. I asked him what was wrong, he grumbled abit and then I asked if I could give him a hug. After I gave it to him, he opened up and rambled on about what was wrong. Note to self - hug, then ask. Speaking of hugs, I was lying in bed this morning and had an ahh haa moment. I realized that if I didn't hug the people in my family first; husband, daughter, son, I probably would never get a hug. Don't think I didn't bring this up to the husband and son. And as soon as I can get in contact with the daughter, she'll be getting the low down too.

Poem: This one was written for my friend Rose, when her husband was turning 40. It's sung tot he tune of the Beverley Hillbillies:
Mark’s 40th

This here’s a story ‘bout a man named Mark.
Worked downtown from morning until dark.
Then one day, he was fightin’ off a cold.
And he suddenly realized he was gettin’ pretty old.
(40 that is – old fart club.)

Well some of his friends said he’s going through a fad.
Other people said he was lookin’ pretty sad.
But Mark just smiled and “Said I got the life.”
“Cause out of all my friends, I’ve got the youngest wife.”
(Rose that is – mother of our boys.)

So Rose she decided to help him celebrate.
Threw him a party – they’re usually pretty great.
And Mark he was happy, in fact he’s tickled pink.
Cause tonight he hopin’ his wife will mix her drinks.
(Tequila and rye maybe red Wine.)

BODY: Did a lot of line dance practicing this afternoon. My first class back in tomorrow night. That helped to achieve my 16,000 steps, I'm sure.

MIND: If you're angry at a loved one, hug that person. And mean it. You may not want to hug - which is all the more reason to do so. It's hard to stay angry when someone shows they love you, and that's precisely what happens when we hug each other. ~Walter Anderson, The Confidence Course, 1997

There were many many quotes I could have put about hugging. This one seemed to go with the topic at hand.

Good night
Off to work tomorrow

  1. Thanks again for that Beverley Hillbillies tune, that was great. That was 7 years ago. WOW how time flies. A lot has happened since then. I don't recall having anymore parties after that. I miss having parties. That's about the same time that we bought Gleniffer and Parker started skiing. That killed our social life in Calgary. Oh well.... one day.... Rlo
