I think Mondays are my favorite day. No, I'm wrong, it's Wednesday, but Monday is close behind. I get to take my time getting up in the morning (sleeping in). There is no rush in getting organized(can stay in my pj's for as long as I like) I don't have to talk to anyone face to face (the hair stays untouched) But for the record, I never do any of that!!!!!!!!!!!
I finally found all those Christmas presents I have purchased over the last month, and got them wrapped. Some of them had been placed under the stairs (in what we like to call the Harry Potter Room) and needed a little dusting (Yours wasn't any of these Alisa) from when hardwood was being put on the stairs. You know you are the biggest kid in the family when .....I had to tell Patrick there might be some presents under the tree for him. When the kids were younger, they would have noticed this type of thing.
I wasn't going to shower today, but decided it would be better, especially after I looked in the mirror and noticed the hair. It is getting so long. I would love to get it cut, but can't decide how I'd like it. Not that long looks any better, but at least I have a few options right now. Bill suggested he could come with me and help to decide (not sure when he took an interest in my hair) Maybe I scared him when I said I should shave it off for charity.
So in typical Monday fashion (which is why Wednesday is my official favorite day) I took the son to soccer. The 3 and 4 year old class was quite small. At the end of the class the instructors handed out a few treats. One of the student instructors (a 15 year old girl) made chocolate suckers. According to the son, she made enough for both classes and that would have taken a long time as she only had 3 moulds per sheet. I was very impressed (especially as she took her on initiative) Another treat or gift was a small soccer ball. And lastly some really cute candy cane reindeer!!!!!!!! I'm not sure why the son wasn't as impressed with the effort that went into these. And thank you for your thoughts Cheryl, the burns on my thumb are getting better; only one is still blistered!!! (That must be the one I swore at last night)
So came home, quick bite, got some paper work out of the way and was going to go sit in my room and watch TV (Bill had control of the remote for the big TV) But it turns out, Bill started watching Shrek II on TV so enjoyed a little company as we watched the movie. I don't Bill appreciated me telling him what was going to happen, as I'd seen the movie before and he hadn't.
I snuck into bed before anyone else. The son was using the computer so I figured I wouldn't be writing my blog before morning. Then I woke up around 12:30 am, and decided I might as well get up and write it. Boy when other people are you reading this while they work the night shift, you don't want to disappoint them!!! Those these tired eyes are just for you Shaunan.
BODY; Over 12,000 steps today, and I really didn't do that much running around at the soccer dome, so it must have been from all the running around at home looking for presents.
MIND: K, today's quote is a little bit long, but it needed to be shared. As we were driving to soccer, the son asked if we could listen to his music. Depending on my frame of mind (do I want it loud or not) I agree. Well today was an agree day. So he puts his music on, and this new song comes on that I haven't heard. I'm listening and he turns to me and says "You know this song is about a mother." So I listen a little bit closer. "Do you get it" he asks. As I'm listening and I hear the chorus, I realize all my nagging and bugging the son, has not been falling on deaf ears. He gets it, and it's moments like this that he tells me about. As I turn to tell him something, I have tears in my eyes, and he says "I know, good song huh!" I thank him for the moment, ask him to make sure this song is played at my eventual memorial, and quietly and with a smile, ask him to not copy the part about drugs and criminal activities. So read the words to this song, and think of the son wanting me to hear this!!!!
"Angel"
[Verse 1]
Now you've been up and you've been down
Stayed strong even though daddy wasn't around
My momma through the thick and the thin beginning to end
And though I be sinning you keep me livin' with that love that you givin'
It's unconditional hey the sun shines when I see a smile on ya face
My momma with the money and jewels the record and tours I'd give it away if I could make your days happy days
And when my hearts broke and can't cope
I'm comin' on home
To remember the reason why I was born
Cuddle up inside your heavenly arms you help me weather the storm
You love music so I put it in song
[Chorus]
She's an Angel workin' on God's train
She's an Angel workin' on me
She's an Angel workin' on God's train
She's an Angel workin' on me
[Verse 2]
I wasn't born wild you know you raised me right
But the roads of Alabama called me into the night
From the coke and the weed and extacy
I'm lost in the streets but you still remain next to me
The blood that I bleed it flows through your veins
Even in my lowest point I can still hear your words to my brain
First time I was arrested mommas love was tested
I couldn't contest it so here's my confession you're my blessing
You're the reason I believe you're the reason I sing
You're the reason angels tangle me in heavenly things
It's been a long road so hard and cold
But you keepin' me warm with your heart of gold
[Chorus]
She's an Angel workin' on God's train
She's an Angel workin' on me
She's an Angel workin' on God's train
She's an Angel workin' on me
[Verse 3]
You're the light at the end of the tunnel the break of the day
After the darkest night chasing all the evil away
You're my flowers and sunshine cherries and red wine
Diamonds they can't find shining through hard times
You're the angel on Earth the proof there's a God
The reason to keep on going you're my light in the dark
The first star in the sky and the last to leave
And when I'm travelin' through the night I feel your light on me
[Chorus]
She's an Angel workin' on God's train
She's an Angel workin' on me
She's an Angel workin' on God's train
She's an Angel workin' on me
I've highlighted the parts that make me think I'm doing ok. Now the goal is to remember this the next time I'm nagging or pestering him - it's worth it and it's not always on deaf ears!!
NIGHT for the second time tonight
