Well it's almost the end of a Saturday night. What an amazing day. I didn't wear my pedometer today (left it back in Calgary), but I'm pretty sure I got over 10,000 million steps in. Bill headed off to the hotel gym in the morning, so I was able to wake up slowly, have an energy bar and a leisurely shower. By the time Bill got back to the room, showered and ready to go, we were on the streets of Seattle by 10:00 am. We didn't return back to our hotel room until 4:00 pm. What did we see - everything - what didn't we see - nothing. We walked through Pike's Market for most of the time. Tried different food fares samples - honey in tubes (bought some for my tea), watched fish being thrown around (who would have ever thought this was entertainment). Visited the first ever Starbucks (steamed milk was delicious). Had a cup of steaming hot orange cinnamon tea. Listened to some gospel harmonizing. (They were so good, Bill even bought their CD) Bought an Alpaka poncho (wanted something with a Seattle logo, but this was to beautiful and warm to pass up) Accidentally found a sports store (who knew Seattle had a soccer team) Watched the ferries come and go (just like continuous rush hour). My biggest surprise of the day was to discover how hilly the streets are. Almost felt like we were in San Fransico (and I've never been to San Fransico) Before we knew it 6 hours had passed and we thought we'd better head back to the hotel.
Before the snow disaster back in Calgary, we had planned on being home Saturday night. But with all the booking and rebooking looks like it will be Monday before we can make it home. Looking forward to another adventerous day tomorrow.
Tried calling the son to see how he was doing, but caught him as he was leaving the house and he asked if we could just text him. No longer feeling guilty about leaving him alone.!!!!!
BODY: Like I said, over 10,000 million steps I'm pretty sure. Let's just say 6 hours of walking up hill and down.
MIND: Reminicing about 25 years of marriage with Bill over dinner. Learned a new fact about Bill. We went by a couple of bakeries and Bill considered stopping for some sour dough bread. He said it was his favorite - never knew - now I do!!!!
Good Night (especially from my tired walking legs)
Stacey
