Let the soccer tournament begin. Actually it doesn't get started until Saturday at 3:00. And of course that is assuming the rain stops. The rain started on the drive up this morning. Just south of Red Deer. It hasn't let up since.
We used the GPS to find our way to Edmonton (it's not like we've driven here a million times or so) First of all, "Glenda" (which we've dupped the GPS) has no recollection of Stony Trail. She's a little behind of the times. So as we're trying to get out of Calgary, she kept telling us to find the highlighted route. It wasn't until we hit the highway that she recalculated and we never heard from her again until we were just outside of Edmonton. It's a good thing we had Glenda too, because we had just got out of Airdrie when Anne seen a sign for the distance to Edmonton. She said there were only 93 km left to Edmonton. I was so confused, I thought she might be right, but, didn't we need to go past Red Deer first. I commented to Anne that it was a good thing she had me along as a navigator(and Glenda too).
First place we hit was West Edmonton Mall. I was looking for navy blue shoes. Susan was no help. She kept picking out turquoise shoes telling me they were blue. They were so much more green. Anne and I made a very special purchase. We were in Sears just heading to the shoe department when an annoucement came over the PA - "Free gift to customers who come to the black booth on the second level." How could we not go with that inticement. Turns out it was for a type of sham-wow, but called something different. Just for showing up to the booth we got a free mini cloth for glasses/tv'/computer screens, etc. But if you stuck around for the presentation you got another surprise. Good thing we had no place to be. So we stuck around for the presentation. We suspected the surprise wasn't going to be free, but our inner "deals" gene made us stay. Well they were selling these cloths for 24.99 for, not 1 but 2. Neither Anne or I needed any more of these type of clothes, but then came the surprise; if you bought the cloth, and you got the second one free, they also through in this mop. Darn - it was the neatest mop. Picture two woman walking side by side in West Edmonton Mall, with a young teenager in between us and we're carrying our mops. We figure will all the rain this weekend, we might be able to use the clothes to dry Susan's clothes.
Susan met up with her friends and Anne and I headed to the hotel. "Glenda" got us there with no problem. Luckily!!! As we were leaving the mall, we headed down our ramp only to discover a vehicle coming up the ramp - we thought we were in the wrong but the other car started to back out. We were ready to apologize but discovered at the bottom that the other vehicle was in the wrong - idiot!!!!
We rested while we waited to hear when Susan would be ready to be picked up. She stayed behind at the mall with girlfriends. She ended up getting a ride back to the hotel with a friend. By now Anne and I were getting a little hungry. We headed over to the restaraunt across the street. Susan joined us afterwards. She ate half of her supper and then was full (might have had something to do with the cinnamon bun she had earlier) So we got the rest of her dinner to go. We got back to the hotel and Susan ran into friends. She went to show them her leftovers only to discover it wasn't the steak sandwich she had ordered, but a roasted chicken piece. After a good laugh it ended up in the garbage.
So it will be an early night for Anne and I. I bought the third instalment of Twilight and hopefully my eyes will keep open long enough to start the book.
BODY: Didn't wear the pedometer but pretty sure with all the walking got close to if not over my 10,000 steps.
MIND: Was going to quote louise hay today, but thought it would be better to remind everyone to have a good laugh (we had enough of those today) It keeps a person younger and healthier (according to Dr. Oz.)
Good Night
